I've managed to fix 2 and 3 with the sliders and using different camera angle.


2 was solved by setting goalie rebounds all the way down to 2. A lot less simple mistake goals now.


3 was solved by a controller setting that I had totally missed called pass assist. The controller I use (a random USB controller) isn't exact enough (or I simply am not good enough) so I need to increase the pass assist. Also combining this with a top down angle that lets you see the entire offensive zone and where your defenders are make it easier to set up powerplays and make some nice plays. It's easier to see what players you need to pass in order to not loose speed, what angle they will be at when they receive the puck and which ones to avoid since they are too close to the boards etc.
Zooming out also makes you notice the "old" graphics less.



Game plays awesome but I need to tweak the difficulty as I dominate the play more now...

I am 28 games into the franchise mode now and I must say I really enjoy the game. I dominate some games, but against the better opponents I don't dominate, just as it should be.


I have tweaked settings a bit and when I feel I have them the way I like I will share them.



Just sad that @djneo is not around here as he definitely was a contributing member. Anyone know if bans are permanent around here?

I noticed that if you want it to be easier to skate with the puck close to the boards turn down puck friction. It will however also make the puck glide more to icing.

Oh yeah actually upgraded to a Ryzen 3700X. Haven't tried 2kHS yet but will do tomorrow.

I think the processor speed is the be all, end all. Mine is a 3.6 with 16 GBs of RAM and a pretty damn good vid card and I still can't run it.

Yes that is true without a close to stable 4.0 you will have problems with gamespeed.

The dolphin emulator for 2KHS is cpu hungry. The GPU is important if you want to tweak and beef up the graphics.

I have a ryzen 3600x. Nhl 2khs runs fine at 1080p. I think the 3700x should be fine, these processors are beasts.

Nike, did you end up getting a decent set of sliders set yet. I've been messing around, but now I've gone so extreme to make the CPU challenging, I might have to start over.

Also, in the future, will it be possible to have a 31 or 32 team franchise, or is it a hard limit like in NHL 2004.

Yes I have a decent setup. The plan was to release the last 2K20 version rosters with a new game intro that have these sliders too.



Been playing about 40 games in franchise. Thing is as I get better I also need to tweak the difficulty a bit.


I think the 30+ team franchise will be hard to fix. Atleast with my current knowledge level on the game files. We'd need more researchers to crack something like that.

So after messing around with sliders and playing a lot of games, I mat have accidentally came up with good slider settings. I was playing franchise and I noticed my goalie stats were awful. And it was a result if not enough shots during the game, so I decided to go with 10 minute period lengths. After some other adjustments, both teams are now averaging 20-30 shots a game. The scores have been a little high (averaging 8 goals total a game), but I have to do more testing since I've got the sliders close.

I'm trying to get accurate stats without having to go with period lengths that are too long.

I'm also hoping djneo fixes some of the issues as a result of all the changes, like the goalies having a problem finding the puck. I actually like that it happens sometimes because it feels realistic, it just happens a bit too much. I also feel like goalies need an overall boost. Even with shot accuracy at zero, and goalie skill all the way up, it seems like I have to aet the shot speed unrealistically slow, otherwise you can RIP a shot top corner from just below the blue line and score almost every time with a good player. But even with the flaws it's by far the best hockey game there is. I tried to go back to nhl2004 rebuilt but it's just too awful. I don't think theres any fixing an EA hockey game.

Note that these are my personal settings. I have been playing enough now to start turning down pass aim assist. That is the first slider you should tweak as a beginner.


To get realistic scoring and competitive matches auto aim is really important otherwise you will start spamming high shots from the blue line. When the CPU aims for you those shots from the blue line are not as overpowered.
Lower puck friction makes the puck stick less to the boards and rebounds from the keeper slide away from him a little more which limits the goalkeeper spin bug.
Goalie freeze puck time at 0 will minimize the time it takes for the ref to whistle which will not let the keeper go into spin mode as much.
Goalie rebounds also effect the spin bug but also seem to make the keepers let in fewer long shots.

Shot speed 30 is close to the sweet spot where the shots don't get overpowered and you can still shoot screamers from time to time. A tip is to try the slapshot when you want more speed.



Changing Sound effects just about mutes some of the disturbing sounds such as the shot gun slap shots.

I'll definitely have to give them a shot. A lot are pretty similar to what I'm at now, but some of the tweaks may solve most of the problems I've had.

Tried it with the 3700X - butter smooth. But holy hell plays this different. Will definetly have more looks though

Try the slider tweaks I posted too.
Especially the ones for the keeper and shots.

Hi guys, tell me why the sound freezes during the match and the game runs slowly, can there be some kind of setting? or should the game produce stable 60 fps?
