    Problem: CPU can't score

Having the PS2 version (can't find the xbox version, stupid store) I can't get the CPU to score on me.

I've bumped up sliders and down a whole heck of a a lot but nada.

Roy is good but a common theme is winning or losing 1-0 games. Occasionaly scores will be hight but that's very infrequent.

I've maxed out the slider I feel will help this and I've tried to correct the problem the CPU has in shooting whenever. Most of the times they will outshot me by 10-15 shots but end up losing. So I tried to solve that problem. Anyway other than that I don't know what to try.

You could start by not being the Av's with Roy. I think the offensive skill slider affects the CPU did you crank that up all the way? I am playing with the Hawks on All-Star pretty much defualt setting and Thibault is averagin around 2.90 gaa, seems pretty on to me.

      Cook,
Offense slider on HoF was all the way up. Now I know videogame Roy is probably better than real Roy but through about 20 games .8 GAA.

JRod try reducing the goalie slider. This should affect both your goalie and the opposing teams goalie.

The problem is that ROY is rated so high. He is the highest rated goalie in the game. After mid season, the CPU will score a lot more goals.

Lightning the one thing you can do before you start a season is go into the player card and change the player attributes. You can do this for every player in the game. So if you think Roy is rated high reduce his overall rating.

              Re: Problem: CPU can\'t score

I just posted this in another thread, but according to Michael, the NHL2K3 programmer who posts on Thunderpuck a lot, the goalie skill slider (along with all of those "skill" type sliders, offense, defense, etc.) is like NFL 2K3's sliders, meaning to the left makes your goalie better and the CPU's worse, and to the right makes yours worse and the CPU's better.

Another post on Thunderpuck suggested leaving the goalie skill in the middle and moving Shot Blocking down to default, 5 clicks, or at least somewhat lower than maxed, where most of us have had it for realism sake. I tried that last night, and had a 3-3 tie and a 3-2 loss while playing as the Avs with Roy in goal.

Try it out. It has helped the CPU score against me much more often and I was getting frustrated as well before I tried those settings.

No wonder I got blasted when i had the offense and deffense slider Maxed. I had the goalie at 8 clicks and lost 3-0 three straight times.
I left all three on the default level and I finally won. What a confusion.

                  Re: Problem: CPU can\'t score

According to the poster on Thunderpuck, the "Shot Blocking" slider made a huge difference in the number of goals being scored. I wish Sega was better at explaining exactly what the sliders do in their manuals.

But, from what I've seen so far, the goalie slider and the other skill sliders being like NFL2K3 sliders seems to be right. Of course that's only after two games, but I was consistently having mostly 1-0 games with the goalie slider all the way to the left and shot blocking all the way to the right.

                    cadinal,
Well I lowered the goalie slider to nothing. I don't have have a problem scoring just the CPU. So maybe that's why. I thought the sliders affect everyone. I wish the people at sega sports would stop trying to be cute and just make them like EA Sports. One for human one for CPU...sheesh.

Anyway I had shot blocking all the way up, maybe I'll turn it down. I also have puck retention and puck control all the way down because the CPU can skate a little too well with the puck.

As for Roy. I know he's good but a .8 GAA in 20 games. We are leading the lead in Goals against with something like 13 while the next team has 30.

I just wish we had a definate answer on the sliders.

                    Anyway i'll keep pluggin along.

Actually, nobody knows what the goalie slider does yet...Michel over at Thunderpuck (one of the programmers) apparently said that lowering the goalie slider makes your goalie better and their goalie worse...but we was somewhat ambiguous, so we're hoping for a more detailed response soon.

I'm planning to play about 20 games tonight and tomorrow with the goalie in the middle and the shot blocking back down to default. I'll post later in the weekend if I keep having the success (meaning the CPU can actually score on me when I play bad defense) that I had with those settings last night in 2 games.

I just found out that the goalie slider effects both teams. If you move the goalie slider to the left, YOUR GOALIE WILL BE MORE TALENTED AND THE CPU GOALIE WILL BECOME LESS TALENTED. So if you find that the CPU has problems scoring, move your goalie slider to the right.

                              lightening,

Well that doesn't make sense either. Here's my reasoning. I score a realistic amount of goals so I don't want to change that. Kinda frustrating.
