Something tells me VAN/NSH isn't getting an entry in the NHL Network's "Classic Playoff Series".Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. They'd have a much easier time against the Sharks. San Jose isn't a slouch defensively, but Nashville is excessively defense-oriented (for good reason obviously, they don't have much firepower on offense). I think a Canucks/Sharks WCF could be one of the better series since the lockout ended.
Of course I also thought Sharks/Blackhawks would be great last year.Comment

Yeah, but they didn't. And the Wings gave up 3rd period leads in four of those seven losses.
It's clear who the better team is. The Sharks get the luck and the bounces because they control the play for the vast majority of the time. They're bigger, stronger, younger, faster, and hungrier than the Red Wings. In crunchtime, they crush Detroit.Comment

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but that's a really tall order, much moreso than Nashville coming back to win this series IMO. There are just too many talented teams in the West to expect to consistently win on grit and Rinne alone. The Preds' work ethic and commitment to defence is admirable, but they need to acquire or develop some top-end offensive players if they want to take the next step.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Just got back from the game. Another tough loss. You know, throughout this series, I've felt we've had a chance... but that 3rd goal by Kessler was just a dagger. The way he split the defenders and just had his way... man. At that moment, the reality that we're just not as good as Vancouver started to sink in. Yeah, a couple of breaks and this may be a 2-2 series... but a couple of breaks the other way and this is a 4-0 sweep. I'm proud of how our players have played, but I think we're just outclassed in this series. We may have had an opportunity to sneak into the conference finals if we had drawn anyone besides the Canucks, but they're the best team in the NHL and the only team that can really beat them is the Canucks themselves. Fantastic defense, top notch goaltending, outstanding offensive playmakers, veteran discipline. Vancouver is the real deal.
On another note, the Canucks fans I've had the pleasure of meeting the past couple of days have been awesome.Comment
