            *sigh*

Pens definitely played better than expected though with all those damn injuries. I get the feeling this team is going to be ridiculously good next season with Crosby and Geno coming back. All these guys getting ice time they wouldn't have normally gotten otherwise, combined with the Goligoski trade to get Sid a solid winger in Neal is going to lead to good things next year.

Congrats to Tampa. I love the way they're building their team and organization. A first year owner, a first year GM and a first year coach and they all seem to know what they're doing. I don't think they get by Washington, but at the same time I could see them pulling the upset with the Caps' spotty playoff history.

As for MTL/BOS, good game and series. Didn't expect anything less with the history those two teams have. Price stood on his head in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd to keep the Habs in the game and it looks like he's finally at that level I expected him to be at when he first got into the league. I love me some P.K. Subban as well. That shot was ridiculous.

I hate how 3 of my favorite players play for one of my most hated teams (P.K., Price and Cammallieri).

Last note: Andrew Ference is a (insert bunch of random expletives here). He can stop with the "You guys know me. I'm a good guy." nonsense. That hit on Halpern was such a ****ing cheapshot and he just skates by like he did nothing wrong. I hope someone knocks him the hell out.

Bruins got away with a TON in the final minutes of that game. I'd say they're pretty lucky. I'm in favor of "let them play",heck it's one of the reasons I think more of the NHL playoffs than others but yikes. There were 5-8 things they got away with there I think.

Sticking to my Wings in 5 and Canucks in 6 I said yesterday despite the new information.

I need to get the versus or CBC feed because the NESN feed in brutal. Jack Edwards is worse than then John Sterling, Tommy Heinsohn, & Hawk Harrelson combined. Did anbody catch that 5 minute monolgue at the end of the game about royalty?

The Sharks being 3-1 in the regular season against the Wings. I know some people think that stuff doesn't matter but I'd say it does. Should probably check the others...4-2 Caps,2-2 for Canucks/Preds and 3-1 Bruins.

Note to Pens fans: Try wearing black next year because the away team is probably wearing white.

Maybe maybe not. Wings and Phoenix were split in regular season, and NY Rangers did 3 games to Caps 1. Injuries/fatigue, hot/cold streaks and experience/luck all factor in now so it might not even matter.

Damn. With a Bruins loss tonight, Tomas Kaberle (Exhibit A of both the TSN hype machine and Leaf Nation's veneration of mediocre players) would've wrapped up this year's playoff LVP, aka the Patrick Lalime Memorial Trophy. Kabs is still the front-runner, though.

Detroit was ripped by injuries during the regular season. I don't take any of the regular season stats into account here.

I've watched every NHL postseason since 1981, and I think don't think how hot/cold you enter the playoffs has nearly the effect that most people think it does.

I think the Ducks were mentally prepared to enter the playoffs as "the team that Vancouver, San Jose, and Detroit didn't want to face", and now all of a sudden they're the favourites against the perpetually no-name Preds (expertly coached by the perpetually no-neck Trotz). In theory, this is the best the Ducks could've hoped for. In practice, hmmm...

Here's my prediction for this series: if the NHL doesn't announce a done deal with Hulsizer et al to keep the team in Arizona by Monday night, then they're beginning the 2011/12 season as the Winnipeg Jets.
