I think the NHL just should have swapped Columbus for Winnipeg (I'm sure the Wings wouldn't be happy but the Western teams need them for attendance).
BTW, only 4 teams said no to this.

I love this realignment. I think it's fantastic and a breath of fresh air into the NHL.

I don't know how I feel about the new playoff format. I'll wait until it happens once to fully judge but I am very content with the way it currently is.

I think it'll be good in that it will make rivalries more prominent again. That's something lacking in just about every major sports league nowadays.

That doesn't look like it really helps the Jets much,I thought that was a big part of the reason.
More importantly this new playoff system will be a complete clustercluck. Gonna constantly end up like the 2008 NFL AFC side of the playoffs where at least 2,possibly 3 teams in other divisions had better records.

It really couldn't have worked out any better for Minnesota. I was shocked to see it fall so well. The top teams are going to be tough to get through in the playoffs, but I'm not one to whine about that. Build a team to compete!

How so? Helps their travel immensely. Winnipeg's going to sell out every game anyway, it doesn't matter if Vancouver, Edmonton & Calgary visit only once per season.

I had no idea that they basically eliminated the Western and Eastern conference. That's a HUGE plus.

The new playoff setup is wonky, and with the division that the Jackets are it, they will never make the playoffs.

Really? Aside from Detroit and Chicago, there aren't a lot of world-beaters in that division.

Not sure I like this, especially as a budding fan who was just getting used to things.

The alignment of the divisions themselves is fine. I don't care much about that at all. I'm not very happy with the way the playoffs work at all. I know it's generally the way it was before with the divisional matchups and stuff but I feel like seeing the same playoff series every year would get pretty repetitive, rivalries aside. And the Finals being comprised of any 2 of the 4 teams regardless of conference? I really....don't like that.

The Preds are always half way decent, the Wild are among the best teams in the NHL right now, Dallas is decent, and the Blues are at least on par with us and who knows about WPG.

Well, two teams within the same conference can't (ie, Detroit and Chicago). Otherwise, yeah. Why is this so awful? What's so innately compelling about East vs West? Would Wings/Sharks or Hawks/Canucks or Bruins/Rangers in the SCF be such a bad thing?

It's still weird, but it's kind of like an MLB set up, but not really.

I dunno. It's funky. I need to see it in action before I make a real comment one way or the other, but more than half the NHL will be in the playoffs...that's scary.

                                Hooray expansion?
