You know, if I paid the price that Jets fans were probably paying for those tickets, I might have a good time too.

They do need to get into the same division. Finding a time to visit your fine city is a lot easier if there's more than one Wild game there to choose from per season.

I'd hardly call Winnipeg a fine city.

That is unless you're high on cities full of murders, robberies, stabbings, car jackings, and ice-cold temperatures (although this winter has been unusually warm). In that case, this is just the place for you!

Is there at least a nice area around the arena to hang out in? I have a feeling I'm spoiled by going to games in St. Paul.

This Kings vs Coyotes game is getting very intense.

Two fights already, and Smith attacked Kopitar after some incidental contact.

Edit: Make that three fights. 40 minutes of penalties in this period.

You do know those Winnipeg fans came to Minnesota because Wild tickets are far cheaper and easier to obtain than Jets tickets, right? And yes, I know Wild tickets are expensive by US standards. Check out their respective StubHub pages and be aghast.

That deal with LA is turning out exxxxxxxcellent. Simmonds, Schenn, and we just traded the 2nd rounder we got to get Grossman. Hope things continue in this good trend...

Great to see us come back so quickly on Buffalo. I'm sorry Matrix. What a ****ty year for the Sabres.
Our deal with CBJ looks great too. Voracek has been solid, Couturier has star potential, and Nick Cousins (the guy we took with their 3rd) is tearing up the OHL...69 points in 52 games.

Simmonds is the kind of guy we need, not guys like Sestito or Rinaldo who give you next to no production and lead the team in PIMs. I hate watching those two play.

I don't, however, hate watching 7-2 wins and 5 Giroux assists.

I find it so weird to me when you describe Winnipeg in such terms. Sometimes I think of Canada as just a place with snowmobiles, trees, big jackets, and hockey lol. Forget that every city has crime issues lol.

Yes, I was speaking in relation to the usual Thursday night Wild ticket against a mediocre team these days. Canadians' willingness to pay to see their team at home is well-known and understood.

If Wild tickets were as expensive as Jets home games, I'd still expect to see a strong contingent of Jets fans at the X. It's not too far of a drive and it's really well set up downtown there to make a nice long weekend out of it. I've met random groups of people at Wild games before the Jets even came back visiting from Winnipeg and Thunder Bay just for a game.

All relative, of course. Winnipeg is the traditional "murder capital" of Canada with a rate usually around 3.5 per 100,000, which must appear comically low to most Americans. Winnipeg would rank about 60th-70th among US cities with a population of 250,000+. Lots of property crime, though.

I wonder how to what extent the pre-lockout style clutch and grab is going to be allowed by the end of the season?

The biggest thing I'm noticing now is that defensemen are being allowed to hold up a player who chips the puck in. When the "new" NHL debuted, this was maybe the biggest no no. It really takes away a lot of chances when obstruction is being allowed back in the game. Why has this happened?

I thought they destroyed all evidence of that debacle.

Although, the way the league is headed lately, you'd think Lemaire is peddling his trade secrets. Damn snake oil salesman.

To be honest you'll be fine, I'm just being a little overly dramatic lol.

The general area around the arena really isn't bad. Pre-game and post-game there's so much activity going on (there's plenty of restaurants in and around the arena that get packed) and everyone of course is happy as hell since it's still the honeymoon period with the Jets. It's a really good atmosphere around the arena on gamedays from what I've seen and heard.

The big thing is to just stay away from the north end. The fact that when you start to type in "north end winnipeg" in Google, the top two searches that appear are "north end winnipeg crime" and "north end winnipeg dangerous" should tell you all you need to know.

It really is eerily similar to Detroit IMO.

Well that is a good portion of Canada, lol. But yeah, we have more than our fair share of crime as well. Obviously not on as grand a scale as the States though, mainly because gang activity is MUCH heavier and intense there.

                                Slower game = fewer concussions.
