Personally I don't think he will have a long career and if he does keep coming back it will be in and out for most of it. I hope I am wrong but with his concussion symptoms returning this quickly it doesn't look good. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?...enguins-crosby

Yeah, it's really too bad about Crosby...I am a bit of a Crosby-*****, but there's no question he's a great player and I want him on the ice so I can hate him. Too good for hockey not to be out there. But his health comes first, and if he and the medical professionals feel it is hazardous for him to be out there, it's better he stay away. He's already accomplished basically everything you can do in the game, and he could still be a great ambassador for hockey. It's just a shame we'll likely get robbed of at least another 8-10 seasons of greatness from the kid, but maybe this is all just precautionary.

Yeah I am not a big Crosby fan but he is a superstar and the league needs him but his health is far more important. With concussions after you sustain one it doesn't take much to get another one. I do think when he does come back he is going to have to stay away from the rough stuff and let his teammates handle that. Also with the speed of the game and players not being held up anymore he always will have to be aware of his surroundings.

Made me think more of Pat LaFontaine, The guy went back on the ice way too soon at times and other times he took quite a long time before coming back but he kept getting concussions. People forget LaFontaine was really one of the elite players in the league at the time and could've been even better if he didn't get sidetracked by all those head injuries.

Honestly, I feel like this is one of those situations that's gonna be hanging on the Penguins franchise for YEARS. They should've never let Crosby back on the ice without some time off after the Steckel hit and now look what's happened.

Here's hoping that Crosby can come back to what he used to be but i'm having my doubts.

Not to say I kinda called it on Crosby but I called it. The NHL will be fine without him on the ice if he's not ready to be there. His health is far more important than filling a few more seats in the stands.

I can totally see another Lindros type of career if he's not careful about this. Just look at Savard as a good example of coming back too soon.

Sorry Flyers fans, I must have jinxed Giroux.

I really wish the NHL would experiment with Olympic ice during the preseason.
The ice is just way too darn small for the speed and size of today's NHL player.

Soon the league will be filled with AHL and ECHL players because all the NHL stars will be in a quiet room.

Who wants to see a Stanley Cup final with Hugh Jessiman and Darren Haydar as first-line players?

I do, I do!! Jessiman is in Avs' AHL club, so that means we're in the SC finals.

Got to feel bad for Flyers. They lose Giroux and Schenn to concussion in about a week? Wouldn't surprise me if Giroux, Crosby, etc all miss rest of the year. Peter Mueller has been struggling with this for more than a year.

Olympic sheets are a nice idea, but I'm not sure it's practical to implement them in all the existing buildings. It's an all or nothing proposition. You don't want this turning into the WCHA where one game you're on an Olympic sized sheet in Minneapolis and next game you're on a tiny sheet like they had at the old DECC in Duluth.

Regarding the ice surface, they really missed the boat 15 or so years ago when they were building new rinks all over the NHL. Some can conceivably be expanded but most can't without significantly cutting down on seating capacity. Honestly the NHL PTB should've seen where the game was going but like with most things foresight is not a big thing for the league's owners and GMs.

I don't know but it was pretty gutless to swallow the whistle there.

Bad news for Crosby with his concussion symptons. I'd be real careful and up until now it seems like that's what he's doing. Hopefully he gets healthy.

Boys makin' the Caps look silly at home. And yet I'm still not comfortable with a 4 goal lead in the 2nd. Clearly the plan of attack is fire from the blue line as much as possible. Vokoun looks leaky.

The size of the ice does nothing to avoid a freak accident like what happened to Giroux.

And like it's been mentioned, in theory it sounds like a good idea, but it's just not practical.
