Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Bravo Ref, Bravo
A great stick check by Ian White on Kessel gives the Leafs a penalty shot, just as bad as the Toews penalty shot when Detroit and Chicago last played.
Keep your penalty shots for dramatic tripping plays and not good stick lifts.Comment

Penalty shot was questionable, but other than that, Detroit has had trouble with the Leafs speed. Lots of small mistakes too–terrible penalty by Zetterberg and a terrible give away on the pk to Phaneuf.
Weird start, but for some reason Toronto always plays Detroit pretty well.Comment

Oh how do ya, Johnny Oduya!
Good to see him playing well and netting OT winners after his start to the season.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

“That kind of surprised our whole bench,” Jets coach Claude Noel said of Oduya’s winner. “We weren’t sure if he’d hit the net or what would happen, but Johnny came down and made it look like he was a sniper, and put it up there with the peanut butter.”<url>

Disgraceful...he's blown two 2 goal leads in the last 3 days. Not only do we have Bob, but we have Hovinen stored overseas.Comment

Canucks coach ain't too happy with Marchard for that hit on Salo:
"Marchand -- this is just my feeling on this -- some day he's going to get it. Somebody is going to say enough is enough and they're going to hurt the kid, because he plays to hurt players and in my mind if the league doesn't take care of it, somebody else will."
"Sometimes it takes the league time to figure things out and there's a difference between a good hip check when the player is coming down on you one-on-one with the puck and what we saw Marchand do with his definite attempt to injure. Something needs to happen."Comment

Maybe he should worry about his own players since Hamhuis had a very similar check on Lucic in the finals last year and Ballard had a low hit on Campbell in the same game. Only difference was Salo got hurt. I'll love to hear Shanahan's explanation if Marchand ends up getting suspended.Comment
