Tonight perfectly illustrates the difference between TSN and Sportsnet.

TSN analysis (Bob McKenzie, Marc Crawford, Aaron Ward) on Cammalleri's performance after 2 periods of MTL/BOS: "No shots on goal, reduced ice time, zero impact."

Sportsnet analysis (Brad May) on Cammalleri's performance after 2 periods of MTL/BOS: "Best player on the ice!"

Also, upon hearing news that fighting was down 25% this year from last year at this time, May proclaims this as the main reason why concussions are happening. "You want to reduce concussions in the NHL? The answer is MORE FIGHTING!"

it's almost a meaningless trade for both teams. none of those players will make much of a difference for their respective teams.

Except one of them makes $3M per season and the other makes $6M.

They had one in Osgood. Babcock's I'm going to run one goaltender into the ground mentality kinda forced Osgood to retire.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying Osgood retired because he wouldn't get many starts as the backup?

Yeah, cammy does make a lot, it's surprising to see how much he has been falling off over the last couple years. Maybe a fresh start (well, maybe not so fresh since he already played there) will wake him back up.

I don't, not for a split-second. The majority of concussions have nothing to do with dirty hits. It's downright irresponsible for May to talk like that after the Boogaard/Rypien/Belak deaths.

As for the "rats" taking over the league... Matt Cooke's been in plenty of fights in his career. Shawn Thornton cleaned his clock in eventual payback for Marc Savard. Did that stop him from cheap-shotting Tyutin or McDonough last year? No. That 17-game suspension he received has apparently given him pause, though.
