Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
There's some talk that the next Winter Classic will be in Detroit at Ford Field. I really wish they'd incorporate the Canadian "Original Six" teams into this. After all hockey is Canada's game and a Detroit/Toronto or Montreal game would be awesome.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

-We played like garbage after we scored the two goals
-Bob let in some Bryzgalov-esque softies
-Letting Briere take that penalty shot was an incredibly moronic decision on so many levelsComment

I think Detroit/Toronto and Boston/Montreal (and maybe Chicago/Vancouver?) outdoor games will happen eventually -- in the Heritage Classic.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Also, is JVR a gigantic bust or what? I know he's still young, but he's god awful.Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
I just realized something sad, new(ish) fans of hockey like you and Dayman already know more about the sport than me, and I've been watching for over 20 years. I've always watched for entertainment, I don't know why I've never ended up breaking down the nuances like I do with other sports. As a Wings fan I've pretty much gone from "wow Fedorov is fast", to "wow Lidstrom is a good defender" to now "wow Datsyuk is fun to watch". The saddest part of all? I didn't even know what forecheck meant until last year.Comment

Watching Michigan instead of the Wings but looks like they are handling their business, up 3-1 already with two from Huds.Comment

I'm not the biggest JVR fan in the world, but you have to remember he's only 22. Also isn't he playing with an injury and on the 4th line?Comment

Re: The Official 2011-12 Regular Season Talk Thread
Quick Thoughts on the Winter Classic that have nothing to do with the game:
- The whole presentation was great. I loved The Roots doing We Will Rock You for the player intros and playing "The Fire/Flyers" during the intermission
- Not sure if it was a good idea to have Milbury around a bunch of young hockey players......
- Costas must have been standing on a box when he was standing next to JR and Milbury
- I thought NBC did a better job than CBC covering the event. NBC had a really good feature on that outdoor tournament before the game. CBC had a Lindros interview but it was exciting as watching paint dry
- I love the camera angle from the plane.
- I thought Philly did a really good job hosting the event. The fans were loud and the NHL and its business partners must have made a killing on merchandise sales.
- It looks like the Winter Classic is going to Detroit next year. After that I think it's going to Washington/New York/Minnesota/Denver.
- I think the game looks better when it's dark outside and the game should move to primetime.Comment
