Why? Wings vs. Leafs is a classic original 6 matchup. It will make more sense as an event with an alumni game and the history between those players. Will be also be a huge draw for Leaf fans in Southern Ontario.

Because when Chicago hosted it wasn't at Illinois' stadium, it wasn't at BC's stadium when the Bruins hosted, etc. It makes perfect sense for the host team to play in their city, not 45 miles away. Granted 45 miles isn't that much of a distance, but still. The Winter Classic is supposed to be played in the city of the host, not in the biggest venue in the host team's state.

IMO it should be in Detroit, not at the biggest stadium in the state. Not to mention, they won't fill it to capacity.

This is why the Leafs are involved. They better have measures in place to ensure Michiganers get first crack at the tickets, otherwise you're looking at 117,000+ Canadians in the stands. Filling the Big House to capacity will not be an issue.

Actually, the Winter Classic is supposed to make the league a boatload of money and attract casual fans. What better way to do that than sell 117,000 tickets and talk about setting some kind of hockey attendance record? Who said anything about whether it should be held within designated city limits?

They're talking about having two rinks going. One at the Big House and one at Comerica. Maybe the Comerica one will host all the lead up events (alumni game etc...) and the Big House will host the Classic.

So has Subban been suspended yet? No? My next question is why not? For all the talk of toning down head shots and taking goonery out of the game, Subban to me is near top of the list for it.

Odd there hasn't been any talk of this. He pretty obviously got his forearm up on Krecji's head. One of the dirtier big hits this year imo.

I'll never understand the whole you make a big clean hit on the other teams star player and than you're expected to fight. It happened during last night's Kings/Stars game and I think it's silly. The whole visor/instigating a fight rule is also stupid.

The Islanders will be begging for some sort of amnesty clause in the new CBA. We all know 15 year contracts are stupid but even I didn't think it would be this bad.

If I were playing a drinking game based around the number of times the TSN guys mention Ryan Miller not being the same since the Lucic hit, I'd be blacked out right now.

Young, big, good in his own end, not much offensive upside at all, pretty slow feet, but young. Still only 22 with four years experience already. Had the most hits in the league last year. I think he projects as an Adam Foote in his prime type when he peaks. Could be of great use to the Flyers making them harder to play against in their own end. Doesn't really play in a system that suits his strengths in Toronto.

I heard the most recent report was that there was no chance of this happening. So who knows.
