I have a strange feeling that Snider is going to tell Homer to go after Suter and Weber. After last year's events, I wouldn't be surprised to see them at least try.Comment

St. Nick, I salute you for 20 years of loyal and outstanding service to the winged wheel in Motown. Probably the best sustained high-level player I'll ever see. Sad, but also happy he's walking away unscathed and on his own terms. Perfect to the end...Comment

Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Yeah me either but it is a slight paycut on what his last cap hit was, still too much for how inconsistent he is but like you said mediocre players have been getting paid more since the cap has been going upwards the past few years.Favorite Teams:

Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Something like that, although it's going to be rolled back once the new CBA is hammered out. Just saying that unless Suter actively desires to stay in Nashville or really wants to go somewhere other than Detroit (possible though unlikely), he's going to Detroit, because they're going to make the highest bid. Trading for Weber seems like a more promising course of action for Philly, as they have more young assets to dangle than most contenders. The Preds can't afford to let Hamhuis, Suter, and Weber walk for free.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. First time in the cap era we've really had room to maneuver. Looking forward to it...Comment

I hate the Wings but being objective as a FA if Detroit can pay you big money you're dumb if you don't take it, they always contend they're just never bad. If you want money and a great shot at multiple championships unfortunately I don't think there is a better option than Detroit.Favorite Teams:

Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
1. Alex Semin. As the only other UFA who could be remotely considered an impact player, someone will unwisely give him stupid money.
2. Scott Howson. Sharks or Rangers are gonna overpay for Rick Nash.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
I figure the Sharks don't have enough ammo to get Nash, at least compared to New York. I wouldn't pay Semin more than 6 M a season.
That 21 M is a bit of a misnomer. Abdelkator, Quincey and Helm are restricted free agents. Maybe 6-7 M for the three to resign here. We could still get Parise and Suter though, but I think Holland will just go after Suter (assuming he hits the market). Defense is a bigger need at this time and we have to worry about resigning Howard, Filppula and others after next year. Nevertheless, it's a lot more room than Philly has, who will have to take most of that 3.1 M to pay Jakub Voracek since he's a RFA (along with a few minor ones).Last edited by rdnk; 05-31-2012, 06:45 PM.Comment
