Re: The Official 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Do you think so? I mean, there's no doubt that Chicago is the much better team (probably the best team in the league), and I fully expect that they will win the series, but even though the 'Hawks are 4-0-0 against the Wings this season, 3 of those games went to OT. Yes, there was that one national TV pants-ing the Wings took, but other than that, we've been competitive with them. I think we can at least take a game off of them...
Still hoping that in 2015, when the NHL looks at how realignment is working, they put back in the proposal to seed the division winners for the 3rd round.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. For what it's worth, I think the back-to-back is a better side to "err" on than the NBA, where a single series can stretch into 3 weeks. I mean, I completely forgot what the matchups were halfway through the 1st round, because it'd be forever between games (and because I don't pay attention 'cuz I hate the NBA...). Back-to-backs aren't ideal, but if they happen once a series or so, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world...Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Haha, I don't care. Games staggered by an hour, perfect for channel flipping on intermissions and commercials.
Game 7's rock the house until it flips over. LolNHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Well tonight will say alot if Bruins lose. Another 1st round bounce would be a great disapointment for this club. 17 players remain from the team that won the cup a few years ago. The problem is really consistency and a weak powerplay. I dont think Claude is the issue while he is being blamed alot by people on social media. Only thing that bothers me during regular season is not putting Jagr with Krejci, and when he gives Rich "high glass" Peverly more time on powerplay then Seguin who despite his awful playoff play is who id consider there best offensive player. Speaking of Seguin alotta blame is again being put on Claude for moving him to RW when he had played Center all his life. I know Claude tried him at Center this year unsuccessfully but he may have been okay as the third line Center.
With that all being said time for this team to wake the eff up game 7 time.

This is completely random but there is a faction of Bruins fans that HATE Chiarelli and Julien and are basically rooting for the Bruins to lose tonight. These people are out in full force today. Does this happen with other fan bases as well? I can understand if your team is a perennial loser but this team won the cup 2 years ago.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

I agree on Jagr. He is wasted on a line with Kelly and Peverley. He obviously has no confidence in them and ends up holding onto the puck too long and turning it over. I know that's part of his game but I wonder if we would see more plays like the goal last night if he was playing alongside more skilled players. I'd love to see him with Bergeron and Marchand tonight. I wouldn't mind seeing him with Krejci and Lucic either but I doubt Claude breaks up that line since it's been their best offensive group in this series.Comment

I watched quite a bit of the Leafs/Bruins game last night and I have to say that no matter what happens tonight the Leafs made a good accounting of themselves this series especially after the way it started. It was really neat to see all those people at Maple Leafs Square going crazy.
I'm rooting for the upset though ti'll impact a bunch of picks I made at another site but so be it.

Word for tonight is that Gunnarsson is out and Hozler might be in for the Leafs. Who knows with Carlyle, but ugh. Gunnarsson, despite a hip injury plaguing him all season, has been exceptional in the playoffs. Holzer was a disaster during his time in the NHL this year. Good news for the Bruins if it pans out.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 05-13-2013, 03:03 PM.Comment

Re: The Official 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
As far as the Wings/Hawks series, I think it will be a 5 game series, maybe 6. The Wings have taken the momentum and upset a team that probably was better. As much as I detest to say it, the Hawks have advantages everywhere, and if you think Jimmy Howard can be the difference maker, Crawford has better numbers and plays behind a better team. That's why they play the games, though, and OT results could play another huge role given the regular season results minus one game.
Babcock did completely troll Boudreau by splitting up Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Makes me wonder why he didn't try it earlier, but all's well that ends well.Comment

Last thing I'll say: Fil had 66 points in 81 games last year and did have a rough season this year. Every forward on this team had a down year because the defense has been awful at moving the puck. I'm all for upgrading the team, but letting Fil walk wouldn't be wise IMO unless someone can fill his role as well or better.

Also, Carlo Coliaicovo has looked pretty decent. Even with White leaving in FA, Holland will have to give one of his D the axe due to roster space, with the likely choices being Carlo or Quincey.
Crawford has better numbers because he plays behind a better team. Howard is certainly the better and more experienced goalie.Last edited by rdnk; 05-13-2013, 04:42 PM.Comment
