So apparently Horton's contract wasn't insured. Columbus wanted to pay someone to play rather than pay someone and have him not play. Toronto can afford to eat the money. Columbus can spend to the cap but they can't really afford to throw money around willy nilly.

Weird about tbe condition, I heard we get a 3rd next year (either FLA or MIN) from whichever pick is better

With all the money being saved, I wonder if Leafs might start taking on expiring contracts if there's a team right up against the cap right now who wants to make some big moves and would get rid of expiring contract guys in order to free up cap/roster space to add someone in another deal?

Though best I could come up with might be Habs with Bryan Allen(3.5M in AHL right now). Still wouldn't mind that. Just help them out by freeing up cap space for them and in exchange, maybe they give Leafs a draft pick or something?

Big win for the Wild. Only the 4th time Nashville has lost at home in regulation this year.

Really though, I like what the Leafs have been doing.

Lose to Edmonton at home, beat Nashville on the road. Makes sense.

The way the Sharks are playing, there'll be no Scottdau alias in the playoff thread this year.

Joe Thornton outmuscled by Luke Glendening, gives up the GWG with 1:00 left.

                        The gentle giant strikes again!

Great job Flyers, dropping back to back to Carolina and Toronto. Just proves we don't deserve the playoffs unless a team wants to give away their spot.

That's what happens when we're playing Rob Zepp and Emery in goal when Mason is out. There's obviously other issues, but our backup goalie situation is so bad.

Despite that, if the Sharks were willing to take back Weiss' contract, I'd be all for having Thornton center the second line. The Weiss/Sheahan/Helm hydra hasn't really got the job done offensively.
