As a Sens fan, the fact that almost no one is losing games in this playoff race is killing me. They've had to be as clutch as they come for the past 3 games, winning in a shootout and 2 overtimes, yet Ottawa's getting no help. The current 8th seed has 95 points already when the usual cutoff in the east is around 92-93 (where the Sens are at right now). Absolutely insane.

Flyers gonna try to keep the Pens at 95 points today... but allowing 20+ shots a period isn't gonna cut it.

I was shocked to see how bunched up the last couple spots in the East were. Stopped looking at the standings once it was clear the Flyers weren't doing anything this year.

Our record against good teams (like PIT) is pretty good though. It's the also-rans that have given us trouble. We are the line between playoff teams and non-playoff teams.

Somehow it's 1-1 despite the shot disparity.

And the Flyers win 4-1. Thank you for the help! Holding Pittsburgh to 1 of 8 possible points in the season series is no small feat.

Never want to look too far ahead but Tuesday's Sens/Penguins game should be incredible, assuming the Sens don't end up choking against the Leafs again.

Yeah we've played them very well this year. Just another reason to feel like it's been such a lost season for us -- wasting Voracek's season, Mason's season, and all the wins and points versus playoff bound teams.

But when you can't get it done versus bad teams, you don't deserve anything.

These playoffs are going to a great watch. For what it's worth, I'm pulling for Ottawa to make it. If they bump PIT or BOS in the process, it'll be all the better.

That was basically the Flyers playoff game today. I'm sure the Pens have been estatic that they have no chance to face them this post-season. Not sure whose bandwagon to jump on for the playoffs....maybe the Sens. Sure, why not.

Ugh the Leafs, as bad as they have been the second half of this season, are still Ottawa's kryptonite. Stole 2 points from the Sens in the past 8 days, which may very well be the difference between making or missing the playoffs.

Really would like it if the Wild could just go ahead and get the playoff spot locked up tonight.

Quebec Citys new arena is just 5 months away from being complete. The capacity for hockey games would make it able to hold more people than Staples Center and Madison Square Garden.

Usually stadium/arenas are the main thing leagues mention as to what a city needs to do first before they can consider bringing a team there(most recently, that's what MLBs commish said about what it'd take for a team to be considered back in Montreal). So with Quebec City just months away from having their stadium complete(September 2015), I wonder if NHL would check it out. Maybe a team by 2016-2017 season?

Bettman has said in the past that they'd be considered as a destination should they get a new arena and a team is for sale(he said that back in 09). Don't know if he'd still mean it,but the arena is almost done and I'm sure there'd be an owner who might consider selling.

From 06-2012,Canes value has been around 144-169M. Panthers has been around 142-170M. So with both their teams being valued more now(Canes at 220M,Panthers at 190M). Shouldn't that be a reason for their owner to consider selling? Canes operating income has been in negatives since 07(this past year being their worst one),Panthers also being in negatives in an even longer time(and this past year also was their worst).

So having all time lows in operating income, but all time high in team value, wouldn't their owners at least consider selling?

You should do it. Wyshynski's right in that your viewpoint has been underrepresented.

The Sabres' tank job have received a pass from most neutral observers and the media mainly because... well, they're the Sabres. Most media and neutral fans (including myself) have a soft spot for Buffalo, and wouldn't mind seeing a franchise player there. If the Oilers (or a widely-reviled team like the Bruins, Leafs, Canucks, etc.) were blatantly tanking, there would be a whole lot more screaming from fans and players. Would Wysh be cool with the Rangers tanking for a franchise player?
