Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread

^The Coyotes are winning it! Though LA or Boston winning it would be 2nd-3rd worst options.

Which is why I actually like a draft order suggested by someone that would prevent this. Lottery order determined based on points a team gets AFTER being officially eliminated from playoffs. So a team eliminated on final day gets low pick(13-14th), while a team eliminated earlier on,has more chance to rack up points(meaning they can't just tank at end).

I'd wanna find out what draft order for this year and even last year would've looked like under a format like that one.

Also,Jets need 1 more win(or just 1 LA loss) to clinch playoff spot. Flames just need 1 more point to do so. So even if Kings win tomorrow vs Flames,if it's an OT win, they'll be eliminated. I actually want this to happen. Tie game late in the 3rd period, forcing Kings to have to pull their goalie to save their playoff hopes. And then fans celebrating an OT loss because their team still clinched a playoff spot.

Tomorrow night is huge for us. And if the Flames win I have to pay $350 for playoff tickets lol

For the record, give the Calder to Johnny Hockey! No disrespect to Forsberg, Stone, or Ekblad, but the Flames are fighting for McEichel without him

Hopefull Ottawa can knock BOS or PIT out of the playoffs. The way they're playing it would make Sens.

Paul Gaustad's "goalie interference" from last night:

That would have been the go-ahead goal for Nashville, but it was waived off.

I got a good chuckle when I saw the Canucks giving 4 years to Dorsett (2.65M AAV) and 3 years to to Sbisa (3.6M AAV). Reminded me when the Avs re-signed McLeod and Stuart for no reason on the same day.

Absolutely brutal signings. Between this and the Virtanen pick, I'm beginning to miss Mike Gillis already.

Up until recently, I didn't think Treliving was doing all that well in the signings department either. Raymond's been terribly inconsistent which I'm sure you've seen Dr. Jones and Bollig hasn't been any good either. Engelland despite his improved play is still meh considering how much he signed for. Really, when you look at the Flames and how their roster's been constructed, you can thank Feaster and even Sutter for the majority of the players. I'm not saying Treliving's going to be terrible, but he walked into a roster that was already developing and had a good coach already in Hartley that he would likely have canned if the Flames sucked this year.

Having said that, I'm glad he didn't mortgage the future in trading for a rental at the deadline. Even if we make the play-offs, this team is still very much in a rebuild. Some great pieces are in place, but we could use some depth at right wing and some defensive prospects. It's this summer where we'll really see how Treliving does

                  You can have Sakic.

The Kings disgust me, so it'll be glorious to see them eliminated. The bonus is that Calgary and Winnipeg will be the ones qualifying, and I'll be pulling hard for both to pull a first round upset. So happy for the WPG fans to get to see playoff hockey. Hopefully they stick it to the Ducks if that's their draw.

I'm a little anxious tonight because LA always seems to do well with their backs against the wall. I don't want our season to come down to Winnipeg this weekend

Jets and Flames could clinch tonight!

                          Best Scenario:
                          Sens,Jets,Flames,Habs,Panthers all win tonight.

                          Worst scenario:
Rangers,Wings,Bruins,Avs,Kings all win tonight in regulation.

Seeing 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs?!? That'd be great to have. And Winnipeg getting playoff hockey for first time since 96! And looking for first playoff series win since 87. Really hoping they can do that. It'd be fitting to face the Ducks also, cause the Ducks were the last regular season opponent the Jets had in 95-96.

Good to know the Leafs are honouring Colton Orr on Saturday. Who wouldn't want to celebrate the career of a man who scored 24 points in 476 games and lost 75% of his fights?
