Canucks/Flames in Round 1. When the playoffs thread pops up later tonight or tomorrow, I expect to see Doc recounting the days of Theo Fleury against Bure.

Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread
Stupid Bettman taking away 2 Canadian teams! 3 of 4 years from 84-87 we had at least 6 Canadian teams in playoffs! Every year 5+ Canadian teams have been in playoffs since 84,all years featured Canadian team in finals, and all but 1 had them win the cup!
That's what's best for hockey. Hope a Canadian team wins this year, and they add a team to Quebec City within the next 2-3 seasons!Last edited by Majingir; 04-11-2015, 05:19 PM.Comment

Now Sabres fans are pulling "Let's Go Buffalo!" chants and **** as if they didn't vehemently root against their team for the last two years. That pisses me off even more.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 04-11-2015, 06:42 PM.Comment

Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread
Things we can predict from the graphic:
1. The next time Canada has 5 teams in the playoffs will be 2026.
2. Each of those years a Canadian team was in the finals. 84, 85, 87, 90- Oilers, 86-Flames/Habs, 93- Habs, 04- Flames. Flames lost twice, the others won their's. Therefore, a Canadian team will make it to the finals.
3. Since the Oilers aren't in the playoffs, only the Flames or the Habs have a chance of advancing to a cup final. Vancouver has a chance via the 81/82 season below.
4. We can extend this to the 82/83 season. In 82/83- Habs, Nords, Oilers, Leafs, Canucks, Flames and Jets; Oilers would lose in the finals. All 7 Canadian teams made the playoffs that year.
5. We can extend this to the 81/82 season. In 81/82- Habs, Nords, Jets, Flames, Oilers and Canucks; Canucks would lose in the finals.Comment

Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread
With the Penguins making the playoffs this means the Boston Bruins will miss the playoffs for the first time in 7 or 8 years. And also means that Peter Chiarelli and Claude Julien will most likely be fired. The over/under on Chiarelli has been set at 48 hrs. I'm taking the under on that one. The guy has been horrendous ever since the Cup Run in 11. And don't give me Seguin, my 90 year old grandmother would have taken Seguin or Hall in that draft. Same with Dougie. His trade deadlines have been ****...he gives out contract extensions way too early. IE Chris Kelly and Riley Smith. He botched the Seguin trade. And gave up on the kid way too early. He can't manage the cap. And to Julien. He loves the 4th line way too much. During crucial games down the stretch your 4th line center should not play 7 more minutes than your most skilled player in Pasternak.Comment

Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread
So having some of the most profitable teams in the league, in the playoffs, earning even more money for the league, isn't good? Cause of the 5 Canadian teams in the playoffs,4 of them are in top 9 most profitable teams in the league(and 6 of top 9 in general are Canadians)Last edited by Majingir; 04-11-2015, 09:50 PM.Comment

I don't think an extra million or two will make the NHL sink or swim. And I don't think having Canadian teams in the playoffs is inherently "better" for the league.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: The Official 2014-15 Regular Season Talk Thread
Better ratings as well and everything too, meaning more money brought in from ads. Ticket prices likely higher in these cities so more money made from those also.
East Matchups:
Sens-Habs
Lightning-Wings
Rangers-Pens
Caps-Islanders(Caps with home advantage)
West matchups:
Ducks-Jets
Blues-Wild
Preds-Hawks
Canucks-Flames
I'm hoping Habs,Wings,Pens,Caps win in east. And Jets,Blues,Hawks,Western Canadian team win in westComment
