The Leafs were actually favourites in each of their playoff series in '99, BTW. The only time Toronto won as an underdog in the Quinn era was when they swept Ottawa in the 2001 CQF.

Good ole OTT/TOR... Patrick Lalime lol. I always forget how good those early 2000s Sens were.
      NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
      NFL - Buffalo Bills
      MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I know Philly was below them in the standings, but are you sure the Leafs were true underdogs in this series. It felt like a huge upset at the time. Leafs had 69 points the year before and the Flyers had the likes of Lindros, Leclair, Brind'amour, and Desjardins. The Leafs had Sundin, Steve Thomas had been pretty good that year, and Sergei Berezin hogged the hell out of the puck. Joseph was certainly a huge factor as well. I just can't imagine how that team would have been favored over Philly or Pittsburgh.

As someone with no personal stakes in either series, both TOR/PHI and TOR/PIT felt like pick'ems to me. But whatever.

Some people around here remember the Canucks' run to the Final in '82 as a great underdog run. Being the crusher of dreams that I am, I remind them that the Canucks were a bad team that miraculously faced even worse teams for the first three rounds that year. Now the '91 North Stars, that was a real underdog run...

He's not derisively known as "Master Dater" by Red Wings fans for no reason.

(But yes, I still love his book.)

So the Oilers go on a PP, but they allow 2 shorthanded goals to Tobias Rieder, a player the Oilers traded away last season.

3-1 Coyotes, Oilers haven't beaten a Western Conference team all year.

The Oilers, who have not won at home since October, remain winless against Western Conference opponents, dropping to 0-12-3 in that category.

I think Mr. Hockey's time on Earth is almost at an end. According to his son Mark Howe he had a(nother) major stroke yesterday and is in the ICU.

Ference should be roasting his owner for keeping Lowe, MacT and management team that has sunk this team. I love to see the Oilers suck but this is too easy.
