Yes it looks like this season will be a lot of fun. There are a lot of good teams and I'm looking forward to it.

Saturday should be interesting. No way the Avs play that bad again. No way the Wild play as good as they did in the first two periods. That honestly might be up there with the best game any Wild team has ever played.

        Wild played fantastic.

I have no reason to believe that won't be the norm rather than the exception.

The Av's have a ton of variables. Much like last year they will be streaky and can go from playing great one day to terrible the next.

Wish the game was better but I don't think the Avs ever had a chance of winning tonight.

I'm going through the catalog of Wild games in my mind and I just can't think of one where we played better.

I expect a much better game out of Colorado on Saturday. Should be a fun game. Would be nice to come out on top again and get a couple wins under our belt early. Probably won't be easy, though.

Ah, good ol' "they". Other than Daryl Reaugh (who barely played in the NHL) and maybe Panger, aren't all goalies crap analysts? Brian Hayward? Greg Millen? Both God-awful. John Garrett? I'm a Canucks fan, and even I think he's one of the worst homers in the league. Glenn Healy belongs in the lowest circle of Hell.

Nino Niederreiter is going to be very good. That was a veteran move on his goal.

Scrivens looked like he was on an island.

He was a steal. Straight up for Cal Clutterbuck, and they're now on about the same cap hit for the next 3 seasons. I know who I'd rather have.

Alexander Wennberg is going to be a really, really good player.

Jackets still have waves and waves of scoring. Enroth was a beast last night to just allow 3 goals.

LOL! 12 minutes in and Boston had 0 shots.
I don't blame the Bruins, as that's what happens when the NHL refuses to use Sunday and Monday and jams in so many games in a 5-day week.
Teams playing that 2nd game will obviously have less energy and conserve it for defensive purposes.

Then the NHL hires Pronger(!!!) as their safety inspector?
I haven't seen a more irresponsible hire since..
                    Spoiler

The NHL continues to disappoint me. They said they wanted to clean the sport up to make it safer and more exciting.
Yet we have games where two teams can combine for 7 shots after more than half a period and then hire one of the dirtiest players to police it.

In 2 years, we can expect there to be more concussions per night than goals.

I'm sorry that you had to watch a low-scoring game. But just about every game last night had at least 5 goals. There were two 6-4 games! One of those involved a team that played the night before.

5 goals? The league and FANS should be clamoring for 7.5+ goals per game.

I want to see creativity, plays, odd man rushes, and quality goals.
I'd be more than happy with 3.5 goals-per-game if 3 of those goals were highlight material.
But watching endless screen/deflection/rebound goals are boring.

And it wasn't just one game. I flipped to several different games and it was the same story.
I believe the Panthers has 12 SoG through nearly 2 periods.

                        I don't know why I even bother. I'm a broken record.
I just know how good this sport can be with only 2 minor tweaks. Hockey from 1985-1994 ruined all other forms for me.

                            Maybe not anytime soon.
But I do think it'll happen eventually. And I really, firmly believe, that when it does, everyone that thinks dead-puck hockey is great will have their minds blown and they'll all wonder why these changes weren't made sooner.

I love hockey, but I don't believe the NHL's version of the sport is anything close to how great it can, or should be.

Healy is a little better when he has more time to talk...then again it's still pretty bad. He's at least entertaining to listen to on the radio with Bob McCown here.

I miss John Davidson though, now he was a great analyst.

JD was good. Still curious where the weird "Alexei Ko-va-LOV" and "Pa-VEL BOR-ay" pronunciations came from.

Healy is wretched in any environment. Though we are in agreement about the folly of the three-man booth. Healy and Pierre McGuire are somewhat more tolerable in two-man booths because they're not quite so anxious about having the time to say something stupid or where somebody played junior. I don't remember ever enjoying a three-man booth that didn't include Dick Irvin Jr.
