Wow. Wasn't expecting to wake up to this news today.

It's a shame we have to lose Bogosian, but on the other hand, we do have our fair share of defensemen, as well as guys like Josh Morrissey that will be coming up soon.

I don't know how well Myers has been lately but I'm pretty sure he hasn't lived up to his production in his rookie season, so hopefully a change of scenery can turn that around.

Either way, it's nice to finally be rid of the constant distractions Kane brought to the team. The fact there was this amount of value brought back in doing so is pretty much icing to me.

Honestly looking forward to seeing how Winnipeg responds to this trade as well. My dad was a Jets fan pre-expansion era so it's fitting that they're my second favourite team. Winnipeg could potentially get a huge pull if the prospects/picks turn out. They already have some great guys in the system.

This would be an A+ trade in EA' s NHL games, due to Lindback being 6'6" and Enroth being 5'11".

Unfortunately for Buffalo, being tall isn't the only thing you need to be good at goalie in real life.

Lindback's had multiple chances to succeed as an NHL starter (Nashville, Dallas, Tampa Bay), but he's just ended up getting dealt from all those teams in two years or less.

He'll always be a starter on my Hockey Ultimate Team, though.

The trade was pretty much Enroth for a 3rd (becomes a 2nd if Dallas reaches the 2nd round of the playoffs). Like Enroth, Lindback's a UFA. The Sabres are only bringing him aboard for additional tank support.

              Wait, it's not?

But anyways, I do feel bad for Enroth though. First he gets stuck behind Ryan Miller and Patrick Lalime () then he finally gets his shot as a starter on a terrible Buffalo team, then he gets traded too once again be a backup to a (generally) pretty good goalie.

EDIT: And about the conditional pick - I would have guessed it was based on Enroth re-signing with Dallas. Sort of surprised it's not.

Lindback has all the tools to be a goaltender in the NHL. Great size, athleticism, etc. I could see him becoming a Mike Smith (a resurgence goaltender). On the topic of Mike Smith, he's had a downer of a year but has been posting respectable results lately... Turnaround?

Bogo's offense never really was developed, so I don't see him being much more than a quality but injury prone defensive defenseman. Myers' upside is super tantalizing, but he could end up being an overpaid bag of broken dreams. Buffalo is hoping Kane benefits from the change in scenery. The prospects/picks Winnipeg is receiving aren't insignificant either. I'd lean slightly to the Jets. At least now I don't have to worry about Holland overpaying for Myers, and he can focus on more sensible options like Franson or Zidlicky.

Lindback is only there because someone needs to play out the string as goalie for Buffalo.

Leafs get the OK from ownership to rebuild. Almost everyone can go except for a select few.

This deadline should be interesting for Leafs. And next few years are gonna be beyond horrible to watch then if they're going full rebuild mode.

I just hope they don't abandon the rebuild halfway through.

This should be fun. Wonder when they're going to move Kessel.

EDIT: I just looked up Glass's advanced stats for the Canucks' SCF year. Vancouver led the league in Goals For and Goals Against, and was 2nd in the NHL in team Fenwick (behind Boston). Despite this, Glass finished 523rd out of 537 players with at least 500 minutes playing time. His Fenwick was a Leaf-like 41.9%, while no other Canuck was below 46%. So at least he's consistently awful.

DOUBLE EDIT: Holy Christ, Glass is signed through 2017!!!
                            Yeah...Glass is awful. He's nicking a living.

Toronto is the NHL equivalent of the Knicks. I can sympathize with them.

Yeah they'll probably be right back at throwing stupid money at average or bad players after the season.

I've been lucky to watch the Flyers my whole life who have made the playoffs nearly every season of my life. But we've had more playoff-less seasons in the last few years then ever; amazingly, some of my favorite seasons were when we were awful and playing younger guys to get a look. At that point it's about watching the team because you love the game instead of "GOTTA GET THIS WIN!"

If they do it right, TOR could be a force in years down the road. You can't half commit or you'll be stuck where the Leafs have been so often; no playoffs, not bad enough for a high draft pick.

Which other franchises could also be grouped in that category? I'm thinking Cubs for MLB, and Lions or Eagles for NFL?
