I don't know. The logo and jerseys are so classic and basic (a good thing in these times) that I don't know how they could (or don't trust them) alter them without screwing up.
    NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
    NFL - Buffalo Bills
    MLB - Cincinnati Reds

The jerseys can be kept the same,it's just a change of logo.

I think it's easier with the Leafs since they've already altered it a couple of times in the past.
It's not like the Blackhawks or Wings logo which has gone relatively untouched since their inception.

But with the Leafs, why not?
The logo they use now is the most "maple leaf" like logo they had,but it's actually not entirely like a maple leaf. The 2 examples below, are much more closer to an actual maple leaf. One on the left is maple leaf from Canadian flag. One on right is maple leaf the Jays use. It's not too much of a change from their current, but looks more "modern"(at least to me),and it's enough of a change to lead to all new merchandise from them. Not like a color change or something like that,it's a tweaked logo, which you know many fans will go out and buy new gear, just cause it looks slightly different.

I'm firmly in the "bigger nets" camp.

In the 92/93 season, there were 52 players with 80+ points.
In the 14/15 season, there were 5 players with 80+ points.

The game is broken. Spending years wrangling with the NHLPA for slightly smaller goalie equipment isn't going to accomplish much. Since my first suggestion (kill all the coaches) is unlikely to be followed, making the nets bigger is my preferred second option.

Might as well spruce it up.

And hey, for someone who thinks 4-on-4 is the way of the future, maybe this is just a small, tiny step towards making that a reality.

            Agreed.
I might feel differently if the NHL introduced the new goalie equipment and it looked like Ken Dryden’s gear, but I think everyone knows that won’t be the case.
They’ll take a half-inch off here or there and it won’t amount to much.

Bill Watters was on XM this afternoon and he said something that I think most people can agree with.
There aren’t enough goals scored off a rush. And those are the most exciting goals in hockey.
You can count on one hand how many odd-man rush or breakaway goals you’ll see in a weeks worth of games. And that might be a generous estimate.

I guess that’s why the quantity of goals isn’t what the NHL needs to be looking at improving, but rather the quality.
If the league gets to 8 GPG but all the goals are rebound/deflection/screen goals built from a blast off the point, then I’m not sure they’ve really fixed what’s wrong with today’s game - which is a massive loss of creativity and excitement.
It’s just way too easy to stifle talent and offense in today’s game.
It’s unbalanced and changes such as bigger nets, 4-on-4, not leaving feet to block shots…, need to be implemented in order to rectify that imbalance.

Hamonic wants out of NY and wants to go to western canada. It's all for personal reasons, nothing about the Islanders, he just wants to be closer to family.

Oilers obviously need D badly, so they better be throwing together some offer ASAP.

              Looking at the new format:
              Metropolitan division has better F than Atlantic(Ovechkin,Crosby,Tavares > Stamkos,Pacioretty,Eichel), but Atlantic will have better D and G(Subban,Karlsson,Price > Carlson,Faulk,Lundqvist).

              Central has better F(Toews,Kane,Benn > Sedin,Pavelski,Domi) but Pacific has better D and G(Burns,Doughty,Quick > Suter,Klingberg,Rinne)

I guess they just took anyone who would say yes lol. Raycroft..really? At least Don Cherry will be coach. That'll be cool to have.

Brian Leetch as a Bruins alumni lol. Sure he did play with them for 1 season but still, kind of strange to see thatl.

For a franchise as decorated as the Bruins, that's kind of surprising. The Flyers assembled some awesome alumni for their pregame stuff including getting the Legend of Doom back together. And we know Lindros' history with Flyers upper management aka Bobby Clarke.

                        Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

                        Interesting read:
Vast majority of the 2.5 million pages of internal league documents in concussion case sealed by a court order at the NHL's request.

When Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke effectively ended the career of Boston Bruins centre Marc Savard with a crushing blindside hit to the head, the blow sent shudders through the hockey world.
It also sent Colin Campbell, then the NHL's senior vice-president of operations, to his computer, where he exchanged emails about the incident with Mike Milbury, a former NHL player, coach and general manager turned TV analyst.
Milbury asked Campbell, "Is intent to injure a stand alone call?"
As part of his reply, sent six days after the incident in a March 13, 2010, email, Campbell wrote: "Let's face it Mike... we sell rivalries, we sell and promote hate..."
That's no great surprise to me and others.
The NHL has never really stopped promoting violence.
They know the product on the ice is wanting. When you only have 4 to 5 legit even-strength scoring chances a game, what else can you promote?

I really hope the NHL loses this lawsuit. I think that's the only way the league will finally start to make positive changes in helping the sport grow beyond being a controlled prison-riot on the ice.
Sure, fighting is decreasing, but the amount of dirty hits and stick work continues to go up.
Some might point out the link between those two, but I think it has a lot more to do with how lax the league is in handing out suspensions to head hunting.
Dubinsky should have received 8 games for crosschecking someone in the neck.

There are countless examples just like that one. If the NHL was serious about protecting players from head injuries it would be setting harsh examples.
By only giving out a 1-game sitdown, it basically tells the rest of the league, "have at 'er".

P.S. I believe others have suggested this, but I wonder how different the game would be played if teams couldn't dress someone for a suspended player?
It would make dirty players a lot more accountable.
But then again, that would mean the league would have to actually suspend players.
And if this rule were put in, I suspect we'd see a sharp decline in disciplinary actions.

NHL not gonna be talking about expansion plans during BOG meetings coming up real soon.

Looking back at some past expansions:
Preds awarded a team in June 97, their draft was June 98
Ducks/Panthers awarded teams in December 92, their draft was June 93
Sens/Lightning awarded teams in December 90, their draft was June 92

Thrashers/Jackets/Wild were also given teams in June 97 but their drafts didn't happen till 99 and 00, cause of arenas not being ready beforehand.

So given the timing of past few expansion teams, many didn't exactly get announced so far in advance of when they were coming into play. Past 3 teams which had arenas ready to go, were announced within 12 months of the time they had the drafts. If 17-18 season is their timeframe for teams, I could definitely see an announcement coming in June 2016, December 2016 for the latest. December more likely cause of the extra talks that'd need to be done in terms of division/conference re-alignments.

The NHL All-Star Game is the rare event that unites the league, players, and fans: none of them care.

The Zemgus Girgensons All-Star voting excitement is over. The Latvian forward of the Buffalo Sabres officially won the fan vote for the 2015 NHL All-Star Game with an astonishing amount of support.

Don't know what change could be done to ASG to make it more interesting, but 3 on 3 is a start. Maybe they could do 1 on 1 games instead lol. Imagine seeing Crosby vs Ovechkin, Stamkos vs Tavares, Kane vs Toews, 1 on 1 exhibition games. Advertising that on TV could stir up some interest. They need to make the Saturday night stuff bigger. That's the one part of all star weekend I look forward to the most. Hardest shot, fastest skater, accurate shot, relay, things like that, where guys do give it their all trying to win. Why not just have abunch of those skills competitions instead. At least you know guys will be giving it 100% for those events, instead of 25% for a breakaway shootout or all star game.
