I'm still fine with all replays in all sports and support expanding it even more. As always, my feeling is that a coach should be able to say "this is what I want to challenge, go look at it." No restrictions. My teams have been screwed by bull**** officiating enough without any recourse and I'm sick of it. Now there's no excuse for still blowing it AFTER replay, but it's still much less frequent.

Why in the hell was Nyquist not thrown out of the game for spearing Spurgeon in the face? Unreal. That should be about a 10-game suspension.Comment

Re: The Official 2016-17 Regular Season Talk Thread
lol, Wes McCauley with yet another funny call.
Just something minor to mention, but they should make this part of the TV broadcast like they do in the NFL. Commentators stop talking, we go straight to a camera of the ref as he announces the penalty call to everyone. Not saying to do it so we get more dramatic moments like this, but just in general it would be just a little thing to add.Comment

Antoine Vermette slashed a linesman in the leg after a faceoff tonight. He'll be enjoying a little time off.Comment

Is he about to get the Wideman treatment? Pretty sure that's the guy who decked a linesman last year around this time and got to sit the rest of the season out.
I know me and you differed on how that should've been handled, but the NHL actually came through with that hefty suspension.
...
Just watched the video. Stupid as ****, but not nearly as violent. I think it was more of a "hey ref what the hell!" then him trying to sneak in a shot on the ref. Still illegal, but the intent to injure doesn't seem to be there. Still, you touch an official like that outside of an incidental bump, and all bets are off. The league is gonna protect their refs, as they should.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Not that I want them doing well, but just makes no sense at times seeing things they do.
Also, anyone else think trade deadline is way too late in year? Who's gonna give up alot for a 20 game rental? NHL deadline should be start of February.Comment

And are breaking up that core soon it seems like. Habs really better be in on them. I'm surprised they just can't figure out their issues. When leafs were getting rid of Kessel, I thought habs would really want him. They need top scorers on their team, but their first instinct is to trade their best dman for another dman and later fire their coach.

Might be one of the more boring trade deadline day's we've seen in awhile.Comment

Re: The Official 2016-17 Regular Season Talk Thread
This is first deadline day in forever I don't expect leafs to do anything. At most, maybe someone gives up conditional late pick for Laich,Greening,Michalek or something (and leafs retain their remaining salary since they apparently have 15m in deadline cap). Or anyone wanting to make a big move, trade your big salary expiring guy you dont want to the leafs along with a draft pick and they'll do it.Comment

Claude Julien never gunna change. Needs a goal to tie the game in the final minute. And guess who's out there? The 3rd line.Comment

mtl will be making a trade for Gregory Campbell. They can use him as the extra attacker when they're down 2-1 every game.Comment
