I think if the Leafs were playing tonight you would have considered this a fair trade off.

Re: The Official NHL 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
5 OVERTIMES!
It's the 5th longest game in NHL history.
If it goes a minute into OT5 it will be 4th longest.
The top 2 are 6OT games...in the 1930s! The guys in those games died before the players of today were even born.
92 saves is the all time save record which was set in that longest game in history. Although its unofficial so Korpisalo has the official record, surpassing Kelly Hrudey who happened to be on the SN broadcast.Comment

Re: The Official NHL 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
So we're in a crazy time. It was right to postpone tonights game and I'm surprised it didn't come sooner.
Is 11am tomorrow the best time though? Not asking because of TV coverage, fans, media, or anything like that but because of the players. They were getting ready to play all day for tonight. Is the right thing to do to make them have a quick turn around to tomorrow morning?
Doesn't sit well with me, I'd actually rather see them play out tomorrow's slate and just reschedule for Thursday and then re-map the rest of this round in Toronto. Travel for the teams, nor the fans aren't relevant.
Maybe I"m off base, but 11am for a playoff game just doesn't sit well for me. What time is the morning skate after sitting around all night tonight waiting to play.Comment

If you look at the proposed schedule, it's super tight. "Remapping" would probably involve changing a date or two in the SCF, and no way is the NHL doing that.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. So right after the faceoff before the goal, the puck goes back to Shattenkirk at the blue line, and it that wasn't offside, man, it was REALLY close.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. I didn’t check the finals schedule or any of the down the road schedule but I think it would still make sense to maybe move things around to give them more than a 15 hour notice of an 11am start.
Anyone who's played at any level knows you take ice time when you can get it so I'm not suggesting the time itself matters but I think more than a days notice would be preferable than a nights notice (even if it’s one of the other matchups).Last edited by kehlis; 08-11-2020, 09:43 PM.Comment

Another Mike Milbury sucks moment.
He posted a pic of the CN Tower from what looked like his hotel and called it the Space Needle.
Not as if this is a giant landmark or anything, or he's been in this city probably hundreds of times as a player/coach, or worked in the CBC studios for a few years in downtown Toronto....Comment

Bruins and Canes turn to get revenge after having game pushed back over 12 hours because of 5OT.
Caps vs Islanders scheduled for 3pm...but as of 2pm the Canes and Bruins are in OT.
You also have Habs and Flyers at 8pm. So will Caps vs Islanders be done before 7pm if their game probably won't start until 4 for the earliest?
I also just looked at the schedule. How does NHL have 3 Canadian teams in this round and NONE play on Saturday night?Comment

I don’t get why they scheduled teams playing in the same city an hour apart. Why wouldnt it be a TO game, EDM game, TO game etc? I mean sure people might not be keen on tuning in at 12pm for their game but this ain’t a normal postseason.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: The Official NHL 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
They should've had 2 arenas per city.
Toronto especially, I'm not sure why they didn't use 2 arenas.
Hotel X is like a 3 minute drive to the Marlies arena. Yes, they're an AHL team, but AHL uses same rink size, and lots of what is in that building is simply things that the Leafs no longer wanted in their building when doing upgrades and rather than throw it away they just moved it to their AHL building.
Depending on how the regular season goes next year, I wonder what could change with hub cities. NBA is thinking of hub cities for their regular season. If NHL goes that route, maybe we have 4 locations with each division getting one?Comment
