Andreas Johnsson has been out since February.

    He's back tonight!

Leafs also running a Tavares-Matthews-Marner line. In a game like this, they better be playing 20+ mins

Almost game time, anything can happen, heres hoping for the best.

Of course Werenski is the one to score!

Bad break for each team on scoring chances in the first.

So Leafs going with the "we can't score, the opposition's goalie is the best goalie in the league" excuse in this year's series clinching game as well?

          $34M line can't buy a goal.

I'm about ready to see someone shipped out and replaced with Lafreniere

Lucky to be down just one going into the third. Columbus has blown some great chances.

Up against a cap filled with a team who probably wouldn't beat Detroit in a playoff series either.

I can't even get excited about regular seasons anymore knowing how embarrassing this team has gotten in the playoffs.

This is feeling like the Raptors pre 2019. How many times can you get your hopes up while also being embarrassed on an annual basis.

As much as I wanted Tavares, I was actually hoping Leafs got Carlson instead. They need D help way more.

Going into this offseason, they're really restricted in what they can do. But there's no way they should go into next season with the same D group. And I don't mean the top 4 stays the same and they add AHL guys to fill spots, they need a major overhaul.

The Caps,Bruins and Jackets have exposed their pathetic D in the playoffs and all those teams have top tier Dmen.

Panarin was never going to consider Toronto. Thats a pipe dream. It was always Columbus, Chicago or New York.

I think Toronto would have been afraid to add MM to Columbus core knowing those 4 first would have likely been 25th-30 range.

                        Well, that's it, gentlemen.

Canada can never volunteer to be bubble hockey hub ever again.

Too bad. We were so close: If we had won, we just needed 16 more wins to win the Cup.

I would say this one stings bad, but the last 2 were worse.

And the fact that there were "last 2" to compare this with is even more frustrating.

Obviously an immediate reaction, but not sure how I can continue watching in the future after all this, and I watched Aki Berg, Andrew Raycroft and all the other garbage this organization put out.

Like why watch regular season when you know the choke job comes after regular season is over?

Weird series. All season long we were worried about the defense but the defense really wasn't much of an issue. Scoring was a huge problem. Got shutout in two games and in another one we didn't start scoring until we pulled the goalkeeper. I didn't see that coming. It really hurts a team like the Leafs when the refs put away their whistles in the post-season like they did tonight.

Still not sure how that second goal got through Anderson. He wasn't the reason we lost but he is not an upper echelon netminder.

The "fun offensive teams" are going out one by one.
I just hope this doesn't trigger the league as a whole to become more and more defensive again.
However I must say it must probably be easier to play more primitive hockey after a break of several months and not much time to prepare.

I agree on the "referees putting away their whistles" thing. Vancouver had the same problem in game one and I've seen other teams struggle as well due to this during this covid-tournament. If the NHL want to keep hockey going in the offensive direction it has moved these last years they need to keep the same rules in the playoffs. If they use another rule book in the playoffs this is what happens. Teams that struggle to get there due to facing many powerplays are best suited for playoffs when they can just hook, slash, tackle from behind, cross-check, hold etc.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Toronto now. I am going to stand by my words and say I hope they give the young core players one more shot before they kill off this team as it is.
If they get Lafreniere at least they will have one more decent player cheap for a couple of seasons... :P

The question marks will be how to get better defenders and a goalie that can win games on his own. Lehner anyone? Edmonton and Toronto should go after him.

Cup finals probably ends up Panthers vs Coyotes
