    Re: NHL 2020 Offseason

The whining and moaning by Pens fans about this trade and all others GMJR has made since back to back Cups cracks me up. Always cry about cap space and this and that over advanced heat sheets etc. None of that matter to them when they went on back to back runs out of nowhere.

After 2015 all you read in local media "they are done, the window is closed, depth in WBS is bad etc". Then it was, oh the Pens depth in WBS is solid, these young kids are what the Pens needed etc. Speed etc. LOL idiots!

None of the trades the Pens have made since say 2007 with GMRS has done anything but help or try to help win it all etc. Yes, some bad ones mixed with good and great. 3 Cups. Jesus.

    Drives me nuts.

Jack Johnson is only on this team because of 87, a favor of sorts. It didn't work out. But, didn't work out because he played his offside for the majority of his games. He will be fine as a bottom pair guy and even 7th d man, buuuut here comes the crying of his contract. LOL

    Sigh

In addition to Manny Malholtra, Paul MacLean has also joined Leafs staff. MacLeans previous team....Columbus.

Heres hoping he can help point out to the team some of the obvious reasons why they lost to Columbus.

Given that MacLean worked under Boudreau for a year, and Boudreau has been rumored as a target for the Leafs, I wonder if they'd bring him on as an assistant.

Yzerman begins weaponizing the cap space. Detroit takes on Marc Staal's deal and picks up a 2021 2nd from NYR.

Getting a free 2nd and helps with the tank? Yzerman is a genius.

Love how Bobby Mac is semi-retired but then randomly tweets about Eichel trade rumors.

Buying him out saved them all of 3m in cap space since his cap still on the hook for 5.5m.

I wonder what happens now. Does he retire or join another team?

Being a backup for a cup contender could be an option for him.

Lundqvist and Fleury as FAs will be interesting. And Murray is also probably gone from the Pens as well.

This will be one of craziest offseasons for goalies.

Not saying I 100% agree with it but it was less about the cap space since it’ll be used on Georgiev being retained as an rfa and more to do with just closing the chapter and letting the new leaders lead. Same with dumping Staal. It was just time I guess and honestly the following year it’s only 1.5m cap hit in dead space for 21/22.

Sounds like Leafs might have a deal in place to sign Gudas if Plan A doesn't work out.

Maroon could be a guy they go after. A guy who's "been there done that" on 2 diff teams in back to back years. Perhaps he could help out the team and really drive it home to the players what a real championship team looks like.

And they signed Spezza for 1 more year at similar term as last season.

                        Dubnyk and a 7th to Sharks for a 5th.

I know he had a bad year, but besides this year, nothing else about his Wild career would make me think his value has dropped so much.

Speaking of values dropping, Martin Jones is one which isn't looking so good for the Sharks.

And now the Wild only have Stalock in net. I would've just given Dubnyk 1 more year instead of trading him, retaining salary, and still needing to find another goalie.

In a separate deal, the Sharks also picked up Ryan Donato from the Wild for a 3rd. He was the major piece in the Coyle trade. The Paul Fenton era keeps looking worse and worse.

Chicago also deals Olli Maatta to the Kings for an ECHL'er. Chicago was going to buy him out, so this was a win for them. I like Maatta, but the dude is so slow. I think a slower, more physical team in the Kings might be a better fit for Maatta than Chicago.

Habs trade Domi and 3rd round pick to Jackets for Josh Anderson

                              Jackets win big time here.

Anderson had one good season of 40+ points and that was it. Domi on other hand is at worst a 40 point player.

Anderson and a 3rd for Domi I could maybe understand, but Domi and 3rd for Anderson lol.

Torts will kill Domi after 2nd practice.

Capitals with the steal of the draft so far trading up to take Lapierre.
