Um, ok but....you flat out just said that's not the rule?!

    Rielly batted the puck? Yes.
Marner was the first to gain possession? Yes.
Rielly batter the puck TO Marner? No.

Also, the ON ICE OFFICIALS mentioned in the rulebook (whose opinion matters based on the rulebook definition) didn't call it dead or even decide in the review that it's no goal, the situation room did.

So by definition, it's not a stoppage in play?

      Gotta love the refs.

The puck hit Riellys glove and just dropped. The closest player to the puck was Keller.

      Leafs ended up gaining possession.

The rulebook definition of a glove pass is that its not considered a stoppage in play if it hits a players glove and he doesn't bat it towards his teammate.
That was an odd call and I like how the ref pointed out the "situation room" made the determination. Talk about trying not to get booed.

Doesn't change the fact the Leafs were awful for the first two periods.

Back to back games Leafs screwed on a horrible video review. Even commentators were wrong on what they said the call would be.

This isn't a penalty...the refs literally staring right at it!

Canucks fans throwing jerseys on the ice and booing loudly at their home opener in disgust. Talk about an angry fan base.

Do their fans not like Connor Bedard?

Who am I kidding? Coyotes will miraculously win the draft lottery in a completely legit, non rigged, non desperate attempt to save the franchise yet again.

And rightfully so. Worst asset management in the league, bar none.

When it comes to the draft, the Coyotes have been the least lucky franchise in the league. Since moving from Winnipeg, the Coyotes have the 29th best winning percentage in the NHL, yet have only five top-5 picks (none in the top 2) over the last 25 years. Buffalo and the Islanders are the only teams that have been worse during that time, but at least they each got two #1 overall picks out of it. The Oilers won the McDavid lottery despite having worse odds than the Coyotes. The best hockey player that will EVER come from the state of Arizona went to the Leafs.

If the NHL has been trying to rig the draft to favour the Coyotes over the years, they've done a spectacularly poor job of it.

Nichushkin is lucky that the anti-Russian bans are also not valid on non-resident hockey players.

It's crazy that Phil Kessel is the NHL iron man. But I give him big props for that -- it's a startling accomplishment. With 400 goals and still counting, I got to believe he's going to end up in the Hall of Fame.

I still think of Kessel as a disappointing top pick and it’s totally unfair. Everyone after Ovechkin and Crosby were supposed to be the same great players as those guys, but those type of players only come around every decade or so. Kessel has carved out an amazing career by any measure, and this unexpected Ironman streak is just another notch on his belt. All those goals, all those Cups, all those hot dogs. We salute you, Phil Kessel.
