I think the Pens should probably sell at this deadline....

Outscored 19-7 since the return from the break and 2nd last in the east in terms of points, last in point percentage.

Marner scored OT winner vs Sweden in the 4 nations

Then assisted on the McDavid golden goal in Boston

Now less than a week after that assist, Marner gets the OTW vs the Bruins in Boston

Who is actually movable? Rakell would probably have takers, I guess.

I know you've complained (and not without cause) that the Leafs' last few regular seasons have been pointless. Not this time. Win your division, play Detroit/Ottawa/Columbus, let Florida and Tampa beat each other up.

Karlsson apparently could be a name they're trying to move. Obviously good luck moving a 10m dman in his mid 30s.

Can't believe Pens have Crosby and Malkin for under 15m combined and can't build around that.

That would be best case scenario, but with 25 or so games left and a deadline still to come, anything can happen.

But Panthers missing Tkachuk for a while, that's the opportunity the Leafs need to win now while the Panthers probably aren't winning as many games as they should.

All that bellyaching over the years lol, eventually it turns around in your favor

Flyers blew out PIT and they’re starting to do their thing where they get me all excited about coming close to contention but when they finally get in position, they crap themselves. So I’m still chalking this as a lost season and if they make a run here, I’m on board but I won’t expect it.

Headed to SEA @ PHI in a couple weeks with the best seats I’ve ever had in my 34 years on this rock so if they’re fighting for the playoffs it’ll be a nice boost.
              NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
              NFL - Buffalo Bills
              MLB - Cincinnati Reds

The Leafs will probably/hopefully wind up like the Caps.

Took the Caps a decade in to the Ovechkin era before they won a cup, only getting as far as the 2nd round before that.

And haven't made it out of the 1st round since. So overall, in a 25 year span they've only made it out of the 2nd round once, but that once was when they won the cup.

Even the Blues, from 02-present they've made it past the 2nd round a total of 2 times. But one of those times was the cup.

Sure it'd be nice to be like the Lightning, Hawks, Pens and so on, but it's obviously so tricky too.

Craziest timing, but they have WWE in town tomorrow for a Rogers Centre show.

Not that it impacts 90% of Leafs fans, but the actual city downtown will be packed like crazy for that show. This could be the biggest event in that stadium this year unless the Jays do something. The hype around this is bigger than the Jays home opener in that very stadium just a few weeks later.

If anything they lucked out booking this show during a weekend without the Leafs even in the city, let alone playing.

                      Some truly demented picks here.

                      My picks:

                      OUT Pavelski, Price, Roy
                      IN Datsyuk, Jagr, Kucherov

Even if forced to have 5 goalies on the team, I'd take Vasilevskiy, Luongo, or Bobrovsky before Price and a whole bunch more (including Hasek) over Roy, who only played 4 seasons of the last 25!

Forwards: Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid, Malkin, Kane, Stamkos, Kucherov, MacKinnon, Draisaitl, Jagr, Thornton, Iginla, Kopitar, Bergeron, Datsyuk (ALT: Hossa)

Defencemen: Lidstrom, Chara, Karlsson, Keith, Hedman, Doughty, Burns (ALT: Josi)

Goalies: Brodeur, Lundqvist, Fleury (ALT: Luongo)

Ah, it's a big PPV, that makes sense.

It is tough - Miller's in a big blob of good-to-great goalies with similar numbers to Bobrovksy, Quick, Rinne, and Price. But including Patrick Roy for his last 4 seasons alone is certifiably insane. Even if you just wanted a goalie with a short but very high peak over the last 25 years, Tim Thomas is sitting right there.

Fun Fact about Joe Pavelski: He's the anti-Crosby. Highest-scoring player in NHL history with exactly ZERO seasons of a PPG or better (and that includes defencemen ahead of him on the all-time scoring list).

Where do we stand on Chris Pronger? He was a main character to start the 00s with STL, did that year in EDM and went to the SC final, came to the Ducks and got his Cup, then traded to Philly towards the end and helped us reach a SC final. Maybe didn’t play long enough in the last 25 years (he played most of the 90s) but man, he was a force.

Similar trajectory to his old running mate Scott Neidermayer. A lot more Cups for him with NJD and a lower profile (more finesse/skating ability than brutality) but also a lot of time in the 90s.
