It would have been great to see the same Michael Jordan scenario in '93 played out again w. Tiger - winning on Father's Day, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, my initial guess was way off. However, I did say that Tiger wasn't gonna play well so I guess it evens out. Don't look now but David Duval is tied for 7th. He is -4 thru 12 today.

Winning score is going to be about a +2 thru 4, watch, no joke, I am going to be right on this.

Look up this course in the 1974 U.S Open when Hale won it.

"Hale Irwin gets the first of his three U.S. Open championships in the "Massacre at Winged Foot," so-named because of how tough the USGA made Winged Foot Golf Club. Irwin's winning score was 7-over par."

I think it is going to happen again, I know the leader currently is -3 through 15, but just watch over 4 days.

How am I lookin' now on my calls.

Re: US Open: Who Ya Got?

What an absolute CHOKEJOB. That was arguably the biggest choke ever in a major championship...esp. considering what was on the line. Incredible, I'm seriously dumfounded right now.

I love Phil, he's always been my fav. golfer and he probably always will be but my God, what on earth was he thinking? Miller was right...you take the 2 iron or the 4 wood and you make SURE you hit the fairway, even if it leaves you with a longer shot into the green. All he needed was a 4 and he could've got that had he not gambled off the tee.

This one hurts, congrats to Ogilvy though...he was the guy I wanted to see win if it wasn't going to be Phil.

Little off on the 7 over par.

US Open is always tough regardless of where it's at. The conditions made this one pretty bad - not to mention the chokejobs by Phil and Monty.

Congrats to Ogilvey though. He didn't wilt under the pressure at the end.

Re: US Open: Who Ya Got?

Well how dumb do I feel by starting the thread and having my picks go down in flames like Phil. But at least Harrington had a chance to at least get in the playoff. Phil is one of my favorite golfers (lefty like me) and I was flat out stunned when he pulled out driver on 18 and choked plain and simple. All he had to do was punch out on his 2nd shot and he would have won easily.

By the way did anyone read this months Golf Digest? The most eerie connection is in there. They had a side bar on 18th hole jitters and how to cure them, they did a profile on Ogilvy and David Graham (the last Aussie to win the US Open), and talked about the first massacre at Winged Foot (insert my foot in mouth for thinking that -4 would win).

We might as well look ahead to the Open Championship. I've never seen Royal Liverpool, and I think this one is going to be wide open like it always is.

I did not say 7 over lol, that was a reference to Hale Irwins score. I said winner would be +2 to +4, but I also called Phil to win it. Never thought he'd gamble on 18 and throw it away like that.

Ahh, just quoted the bold part - which I now see was bold initially.

Phil's a gambler. I think he just get's too much testosterone flowing and has to hit the driver. Dumb move......very dumb move.

Yea he totally reverted to the Phil of old, dude only had to make par and it was his to win, if I'm his caddy, I crack his driver in half over my knee and tell "WTF are you thinking, here use a 3 or something".

He got all mackismo and breaks out the driver and promptly drives his arse into nothingness, he coulda had his thrid straight Major.

Pisses me off, I coulda won some goot loot, but nooooo, Phil just says...."F you Bolt! Take this!"
