Hey guys...totally new the Links series. I preordered TW 07, but is this game worth a look at? What courses are in this game and how does it play compared to the TW series? Thanks!

Re: Links 2004..too easy?
Definitely worth a look at. Plays better than any console TW, looks better than any current gen TW by a country mile. I remember when I first played it way back when and just being amazed how this game looked back then.Comment

Re: Links 2004..too easy?
What exactly is the most challenging attribute set to have? Should I go more on power? I have some drives on some courses that are over 300 yds but for the most part I probably average about 285 yds. I feel like this is fine but then there are some holes where I barely muster 260 yds.
What is everyone's (veterans of the game) consensus?
PK's recommendation of 7 total points is probably the best best for the long run though. I'll reach a point where I wish I could take some points away from my guy. I've had the game for almost three years now, and I never made my way through the entire career mode. With the new life the hi-res of the b/c has given the game for me, I plan to achieve that goal now.
The problem you're going to run into online though is you'll see a lot of guys with maxed out skill levels. They birdie just about every hole and eagle at least two of the pars. It's not as ridiculous as what you find in Tiger Woods console versions online though.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: Links 2004..too easy?
When you say 5/4/etc...do you mean bars? I should only put 5 power bars, 3 control...like that?
This was a great post...lots of info. I'm not really into online...but I just don't like the idea of a perfect drive everytime. I am going to start over with an advanced player and see what happens.
This should hold me over until to TW07...hopefully they have fixed it from last year.
I really just want an enjoyable single player game...that's all.

I aimed right center and used the right stick to play some hook, to hold the ball against the cross wind. When you try to play hook or slice with low control ratings, the swingpath errors you make are penalized much heavier. I literally shanked the ball at a 45 degree angle when I tried to play this shot because my tracking was off. I went into the hazard and had to play another shot. Wound up double-bogeying the hole. I was in the lead at the time, and wound up finishing tied for third, mostly because of that double bogey. I wouldn't change anything about the way the game handles that.... I was really plussed by this experience - quite believable!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

You guys are really making we want to check this game out. Especially since Gamestop has it used for $7. This game sounds like a lot of fun, and would definitely hold me over until TW 07.Comment

You may find you don't need TW07 after picking up this game...Heck, even the skill challenges are enough for me to waste 3-4 hours playing...Comment

For 7 bucks, it's well worth a blind buy IMO. I'll keep it regardless of whether I get Tiger or not because it's such a good game.Comment

Re: Links 2004..too easy?
Yes, all courses are real, with the exception of Ocean's Mill.
By the way, did they ever come out with an expansion disc or something that has all the downloadable courses on it? I would totally pay $15 or whatever for the extra courses on a disc, but I just don't have XBox Live (nor do I intend to get it, since I had it way back in the day and used it like 1 time in 3 months). Just wondering - I'm just trying to find a way to get the other courses without having to sign up for XBox Live.Comment
