At What point should I join the Tour?

I've been playing with my created golfer on "Tour Pro" difficulty since the beginning. Yup, it took me 5-6 tries to beat Weir and Stinky Dinchenbacher, but it was worth it in the end. I ended up beating Pops and Allen on the first tries amazingly.

I've only gone through one series of training challenges because I like the challenge of making my golfer perform on the course to raise his attributes. I just hit Pro level last night. I finished up playing Danny Wheeler at Pebble Beach, but lost by 3 strokes.

At what point is your golfer ready to go on Tour....or can you do it anytime?

    Thanks.

As far as I know, you can do it anytime. It is really up to you about when you start the Tour season events. I am still waiting to start them to get my created character some better stats first. I think I am about 52% now and I still haven't started the Tour yet. I would think you would have a hard time posting scores below par with a low power rating since you may not be able to reach many greens in regulation.

I am enjoying the Tiger Challenges and will probably attempt to beat them all until I run into a big roadblock with someone. I have had to try twice to beat a couple of characters, but if it took me more than 3 times, I would just quit that and start on my tour career.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know how the Tour works, does it run whenever you want? Do you earn money on Tour and in the meantime you can still progress your characters using the Tiger Challenge? I enjoy the Tiger Challenge also, but like I said I use minimal training to try and increase my attributes so it takes quite a bit longer. I've also never decreased the difficulty which takes even longer, but as you learn the in's and out's of the course you can improve your shooting.

        Yes and yes.

I played my first tour event with my attributes in the 40s and finished last at a cool +37. Went back to Tiger Challenge for a while, played some guys until I got stuck at Sorenstam (attributes mostly around 60) and went back and played the next tournament. I've finished the first round and am in the top 5 at 5 under.. So I think somewhere around 60 is a good rating to make your character competitive. You'll probably get owned where you are right now, though.

Well, that's good to know. I can pretty much shoot par right now at Pebble Beach with a 31% rating (just finished off Wheeler), but I know par isn't good enough to win any course. I'm going to keep playing the Tiger Challenges for a while.

Another question I had is: If you go on tour and don't have all the courses unlocked (ie I have 9 out of 12 I think) how does that work?

I can' seem to find the answer for my ? on this forum so I will ask it here. If I get my attributes to say 65% and start my PGA Tour career, as I play every week will my attributes continue until I am maxed out, or will they stay the same? I am afraid the game will become to easy if my attributes continue to grow.

It's not easy when you play from the back tees with a guy like Tiger Woods.

I wouldn't worry about maxing your guy out too much.

I may be wrong but I think as long as you don't raise the skill limiter bar by doing the Tiger Challenges, you should be fine. I believe your attributes will only go as high as the bar and all skill points acquired after that would then be considered potential points (?) It sure would've been nice if the manual (can you really call that thing a manual? it's more like a leaflet) would give you some details about this.

^^That's right. I believe you have to go through Tiger Challenges to "unlock" you potential. Otherwise you hit a limit.

I don't believe any of this will matter if the AI is such that the other golfers will just play to our scores. Meaning, as we get rediculously good and start shooting crazy low scores, I believe that the field will all adjust and start shooting the same scores. It all seems to be relative.

That's frustrating to say the least. I guess we better save our A game for the final round of play then to win.

All of EA's recent game manuals have been like that. I think they honestly tried to cut down the amount of pages because it was turning off some people from even picking it up. Unfortunately now, they assume you have already played the game.

I finished the tournament at -8 (pins and greens got difficult), second to last. Singh strolled in at -22.
