I'n sorry TW 07 360 is still 2 easy
I have rented the game the last few weekends, saving my progress each weekend. I play on "tour mode". I now have my golfer at around 50%. The only challenge in the game for me is the putting, not because it's hard but because the grid is a joke. The putt may look down hill but the grid says its up 6". I almost never miss a fairway or a green, maybe one or 2 per round. I have yet to win a but have come in second a few times third a few times as well. I don't want my golfer to get any better because I don't want to win all the time and that is what would happen. Each round I will get at least one eagle and chip in 4 or 5 shots. I have had 3 hole in ones. Chiping is easier then putting. I hate how the cpu makes the club selection for you, add a club or two if it's up hill or into the wind. The lob shot I never use cause it's to easy. IMO to say this is a challenge is a stretch, is it harder then last year a little. The real problem for me is that we are paying more and getting less like with Madden,NCAA,LOL Live. If someone had told me a few years ago that these EA games were next gen I wouldn't have believed them. I feel what we are getting from EA is something more to due with a release date and very little to do with putting the best game out that they can regardless of how long it takes. EA needs competition that's the only way I feel that the buyer will get a better product, until then I will keep trying to talk myself thinking that these are next gen games.Tags: None -

Could not disagree with you more on the challenge. If you are getting so many eagles and chip-ins, then I do not believe you are playing TOUR Pro difficulty because I have seen none of what you see. And my Golfer is at 100% with the exception of power boost which is 98%. Ironic how we are seeing the game so differently playing the same difficulty level......PC / Xbox One X

Wow! i guess i must stink then. Im loving the game and it's hard for me at least on Tour mode. As far as fairways go..even Links with a zero character was ez to hit the fairways. Some people are just much better at these then others...im kind of glad that im not. :-)Comment

To the original poster - the grid may say that you're putting downhill but you have to move the little pointer to the appropriate spot to get a read to the hole instead of to where the end of the grid is, which is the default before adjustments. If I have a problem with the putting system it's that long putting is a little too inaccurate and mid-range putting is too accurate. I should be able to lag a forty footer within a few feet with ease on most green but I shouldn't be able to jam in 75-80% of 12' putts.
Which gets me to the difficulty issues. The game doesn't play easy overall, in fact it's tough to break par on tour pro, but I think the challenge isn't distributed properly. It's too easy to hit fairways. This isn't a Tiger-specific problem, even in my old favorite Jack Nicklaus 6 I could pretty much hit the fairway at will, I might have to forfeit my high-end power but I could do it. Is it so hard for EA to take a look at the PGA Tour driving accuracy rates and see that even the absolute best pros in terms of driving accuracy don't hit the fairway more than 70% of the time?
So far as I'm concerned, iron play is fine. Could it be tweaked and refined a little bit further? Yes, but for now, good job EA. The short game though, well, here's where there are problems. I love the aiming circle, I really do, but it's actually too inaccurate for close shots around the green. Maybe that's the wrong way of putting it, maybe what I mean is that it should be scaled depending on distance. There's no way any real golfer with reasonable skill couldn't get the ball within a couple feet from just off the green but there's the huge aiming circle. I'm not the greatest golfer, 10 handicap, but I can take a sand wedge and aim for a spot on the green and hit it on the fly on close range chips and pitches. Right now it just seems like you're flailing at the ball. Sand play is pretty much as it should be - medium/easy for high skilled players. Real tour pros don't have a lot of trouble of traps, they in fact aim for them sometimes, no big deal here.
Really, make it harder to hit fairways and it will mute making pitching more accurate, and still make the game tougher.Comment

This is is odd that we are all seeing different things b/c I'm having an incredibly difficult time with my driving and and approach shots but I've been almost automatic around the greens. Putting is too easy IMO as I can hole out a putt from 55 ft just as easily as one from 10 ft. And hitting out of the bunkers hasn't been challenging to me. And I've been getting those miraculous eagles just like others have stated. I got 3 in a row just last night, including an ace.Comment

Not getting many eagles and chip ins? Playing against Tanegawa at Barron Dunes on Tour Pro yesturday I holed a mid-iron from the fairway on the 10th, chipped in on the 11th, pitched in on the 12th, and then holed a sand shot on the 13th. That just should not happen. The weirdest thing is that I haven't seen much of this otherwise - golfer is now at 70%.

You must be more skilled than I and countless others (the ones at the XBox.com Tiger forums). I think the difficulty in driving and approach shots is spot on at this juncture of my TW07 playing career....PC / Xbox One X

Re: I'n sorry TW 07 360 is still 2 easy
I guess this game is better suited for average players like me. I've never been a world beater at any golf game. I find the challenge in Tour Pro to be satisfying, but I'll admit that I wish more of the challenge was due to golf difficulty, as opposed to interface difficulty.
I'm not seeing the long holeouts you're seeing. I've had one ace, and one 171 yard holeout with a 6 iron in Tour Pro. I had a lot of them in "Balanced" while playing the demo. In fact, I had one case where I had mulligans enabled on the demo, and holed 5 consecutive pitching wedge approaches to 16 at Firestone, from 125 yards out!?
I've got a house rule about the flop shot. I won't use it because I find it too easy to execute in this game.Last edited by OnlookerDelay; 11-08-2006, 10:03 PM.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

BigBerthaEA - Well, it would seem that I'm just abnormally good at driving in this game. Don't confuse that with being good at the game overall though since I have yet to post an underpar round on Tour Pro. Always I make some horrificly stupid decision and drop a ball out of bounds or behind a tree, always. Considering how it's actually tough to drop longer putts now it's also harder to make up shots.
OnlookerDelay - The flop shot simply IS too easy to execute. Most golfers, even professionals, avoid using it because it's so easy to screw up and the result can cost a couple of shots. I happen to use it when I'm playing real golf, but I will say, I have to spend a lot of time around the practice green working on it.
I think the problem is that this game needs something to keep every golfer from being a super-golfer. Yes, it's about becoming the next Tiger Woods. I realize this is what they're shooting for over at EA but even as close to perfect as Tiger is he has flaws. He's sometimes inconsistent with his wedges and downright wild with his driver sometimes. He's been known to hit balls 50-60 yards wide of the hole he's on off the tee and that just can't happen in this game.
Maybe some sort of specialization for golfers? Want to be a power player? Fine, but it's going to cost you some ability elsewhere like on your short game or iron accuracy or something at least. Want to be a great putter and masterful iron player? Okay, but you're not going to be the longest player on the course. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but this game needs to find some way to bring stengths and weaknesses to different players.Comment

Great post! that would be something for EA to strive for in the next version. You should send that to EA. Have like a cutoff point to how much you can build your guys based on what kind of golfer you would want.Comment

Re: I'n sorry TW 07 360 is still 2 easy
I barely made the cut in my PGA season event at Riviera today. I'm at -3, after shooting even par in the second round. The leader is at -10. I'm playing Tour Pro mode. One thing disturbed me in my first round though. I had what I would call a predestined hole-out from 180 yards for an eagle on a par 4. When the program kicks over into that slow motion, letterbox mode, my senses tell me that the conditions are ripe for a predestined sequence to follow, even though that usually isn't the case. I didn't enjoy this eagle any more than a par; it just felt cooked.
It's nowhere near as bad as last year in this sense, so I'll give it props for that. I just wish these dramatic slow motion sequences could be bypassed. They spoil the flow of the game to me.
I really suck with the driver. I just checked my stats and I'm at 63% FIR. The game is an adventure to me because of it!Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment
