Rented the game again and boy I just can't get into it. I put in Links last week and it was great. I really felt tension while playing and trying to sink the putts.

In Tiger I am tired of pressing the a button 3 times in order to shoot every shot. I do like the confidence and stat tracking but make it so that I can see that info without having to goto the pause menu. It should tell me on some popup what I have done the last couple of times on this hole.

Sorry to rant but really want to like Tiger but is feeling stale.

Links is still available for download for around 7 bucks (2003 version).

Pretty sure he was referring to Links 2004 for XBox...

The problem I have is that the 3 button swing is not an option for use in Tour mode, and being a vet of the PGA series back on the Genesis, I still feel this is the best swing mechanic in golf games as far as timing and distance control. I hope they change this as I really like the game, but feel the analog swing is way too inconsistent in TW08. I know golf is an inconsistent sport, but this goes to the extreme.

Do what I do. Play on Tour difficulty; turn off all putting assists, including the grid; use the distance/elevation marker and run it back and forth over the green to read the contours. So much for making every putt.

I consider the putting in Tiger 06 to be the best I've ever seen in a game. Sometimes with these games, you have to make them sim if you want them to play sim.

Thats how I have the putting set up too ... out of all the TW games, 06 putting scheem is my fav.

Not to hard (as in frustrating) and not to easy (as in every putt gives no challenge )... you can miss short putts if not enough concentration is elevated,or, you can make long bombs over rolling ungulations and never feel sure about how you set it up, but rather uncertain untill she drops in the hole.

I get a real kick out of making long bombs in 06!!
