I'm sorry, but I disagree. DLC is a tool to let users add to their gaming experience. No one is holding a gun to the users head to purchase anything. Every user has a choice in whether they perceive enough value from what is being downloaded, so calling people "idiots" is just flat out wrong. I can accept that you don't like DLC, but I like it when DLC offers users the choice of adding longevity to a game that could not have been included with the shipped game.....

Heh - I guess there's a WHOLE LOT of idiots out there enjoying all the cool new songs that come out on Rock Band every week then.

But it could have been included they just choose not to, and they never will add more courses even when future xbox consoles have a disc capacity that is the same capacity as a PS3 disc.

They are not going to lose the chance to rip us off with the price they charge for extra courses.

It's pretty hard to compare DLC for rock band and TW. I would of thought that downloading and paying for new songs would be expected for that time of game.

            1. Not true. The 360 DVD will likely never have the same or similar capacity to the BR disc. Plus, theses licensed courses are damned expensive to build and license. TW has a development budget and it is not unlimited, so if there was more disc space, that does not necessarily mean there would be more courses on the disc. Like Rock Band songs, there are license fees to pay for and unlike Rock Band the courses have to be laser-mapped, then built in-house with numerous artists. Tremendous costs involved with this process. Big difference.

            2. Rip you off? Is anyone holding a gun to your head making you purchase these DLC courses? You and everyone else has a CHOICE to purchase these additional courses. There is nothing in the game "making" you purchase them. Sorry, can't say I agree at all with your argument.

So your saying xbox are still going to have dvd capacity disc in there next console when it is released. I doubt that very much.

No one is holding a gun to my head because I refuse to pay for extra courses which cant be used in season mode.

The thing that annoys me is a course like Gary player one in South Africa in 09 doesn't make it in this years game. Will they make it available as DLC. If they do it is a joke. I bought 09 and have that course but now I wont be able to play it in TW10. If they do make it available via DLC than I shouldn't have to pay for it.

I agree with this to a certain degree. My problem with DLC is the devs prices for DLC seem to be too high IMO. At $8 a pop on the PS3, TW DLC price is a rip off IMO, and EA knows this. Look, the game itself cost $60 and included 16 courses OOTB last year (same as this year) which would come to $3.75 per course (technically it is less because of the value of all the other features in the game). EA then turns around and charges $8 per course via DLC, that is almost 1/6 the total price of the game for just one course. The price just doesn't seem fair IMO and all I'd like to see is a more reasonable price ($5 would be reasonable).

For personal and selfish reasons, I wish EA would just include all the courses they have available on the PS3 disc (since space is not an issue) and just tell the 360 guys to blame MS for not have the foresight to use a higher capacity disk drive (HD DVD was around in time for them to use it in the console). I know that will never happen but, I can dream.

If you go back and read what I stated, I stated the 360, not the next XBox console.

I agree with you regarding not being able to use DLC courses in Season mode. However, DLC courses will play a large part in the PGA TOUR Online Daily, Weekly, and Play the Pro's tournaments. With the leap they have made for online play this year, I seriously doubt I will play the offline Season mode at all and that is what I played mostly in TW08/09. They have indicated that adding DLC courses to TW11 is a likely possibility.

My guess is that Gary Player was a one-year license. If not, and they do offer it as DLC and it is exactly the same as 09, then I agree with you 100%.....

                    1. Can't argue with that at all. $5/course should be the maximum IMO.

This is going to be more and more of an issue as time goes on. I know for a fact that OMT over in the NCAA forums has stated that they are running out of disk space for the 360. I feel like saying good for them. There is plenty of space on the PS3 blu-ray disks.

Re: Tiger Woods 10 Golf Courses?

This "releasing courses you already had in previous games as DLC" thing is one of the things that pushed me over the edge to just skip the PS3 version and get the Wii version this year. The MotionPlus pack in will make the entire gameplay experience totally fresh and almost certainly more challenging, and the fact that it will have all of the courses in the box means I won't have to wish I kept an older copy of the game around to play.

The disc golf mode looks like a very entertaining use of the motion controls, as well, even though I doubt I'll spend that much time in it with 27 real courses to play.

My one problem with the DLC courses is you can't use them in your career - and I highly doubt you can play them online.
16 courses in the game is a reasonable number.
But don't get me going on the damned locked courses.

I think you can play DLC courses online but the real problem is most people don't like getting conned into paying for it and don't bother so you won't find too many suckers online playing the course.

The price of 600 MS points was too high for 09, I agree. No idea yet what they will be offered at for TW10, but I have a hunch they will be cheaper per course.

DLC courses can be played online in any mode and offline in any mode other than Season. They can also be played for any of the new online tournaments that EA is delivering this year, even Play the Pro's. Another feature that you DON'T have to unlock or pay for is when the PGA TOUR is at a tournament that the game does not have included, they will introduce a course for the week's PGA TOUR event made up of holes from existing courses in the game that most closely resemble the course being played that week on the TOUR....

They will be working to put DLC courses into offline season mode for TW11....

Good info Divot, thanks. At least there is hope for better DLC integration next year. By the way, any word on whether Riviera will be offered as DLC this year? I'm looking to trade in TW09 but might hold off if I won't be able to play Riviera on TW10.
