You can also take in consideration the Tree physics. In TW, you hit a tree, you are dead. In real life, it can go either way : back in the fairway or deeper in the woods. Same thing for the crowd, The ball can bounce back.

Anyway, back to the original subject. Leaderboard Tier is the way to go. IMHO

Champion leaderboard : 8-10 avg attribute
Master leaderboard : 10-12 avg attribute

This can also be further divided by the difficulty level played. So we are looking at at least 20 different leaderboard by tournament. This would allow every player range to equally participate in online tournament without feeling anhiliated if they don't have an max attribute created player.
      Great idea!

The part that bothers me the most is what Zalf touched on, the green chipping. Except its not even green chipping, its green pitching. The problem with that is that the pitch shot in the TW series has always been very unrealistic.

I've never seen a pro be able to shoot the ball in real life like you can in the TW series using the pitch shot. First off, the loft of the shot's are way too high. But I could live with the loft of the shot if the ball physics weren't so unrealistic when it hit the green. The ball literally seems to roll for a couple of yards and stop.

You watch the pros "pitch" the ball, it's more often than not a "hop-hop-stop" kind of shot, but lower and the hops are substantial. If they get loft on their pitches, the ball ain't stopping anytime soon. What's worse, in Tiger, you can set the "spin" on the ball on this type of shot.

Ever crank the spin one way or the other? It's the most unrealistic golf shot in the world! If you crank the backspin, it's a high lofting shot that hops once about half a yard...and then spins back before it's landing point! Conversely, if you crank the "topspin" (a shot no player uses..it's called skulling it lol.) the ball is at a slighty more realistic loft, but then hops twice..and picks up speed on the third hop! WTF?!?! Are you serious, EA? Show me the footage of where either of these two shots exist on the PGA..I dare ya.

The solution is what I've been harping on for years here and at other forums...get rid of the pitch shot and seriously overhaul your chipping mechanic. It's flawed! When I golf, I am able to chip a ball 15 yards with anything from my lob wedge to my 5 iron. All depends what the shot calls for. In Tiger, the clubs have pre-determined chip distances. Seriously, WTF? You can't tell me these guys watch much golf and play any at all. If you try to chip a ball in TW say, 16 yards, they give you no choice but to use some lower lofted club and if you have an uphill chip, you have no chance of getting that ball close. You will chip it into the upslope and be lucky to get it a 1/3 of the way there.

Fix this and alot of your way-too-easy up and downs are solved, plus eliminate green chipping and we "middle of the pack" guys have a chance to take on the elite if, like on the PGA, we play solid golf tee to green.

Short story long, get rid of green chipping lol.

Guys forgive my lack of knowledge here (and I'm kind of embarrassed considering how long I've been play video game golf), but what is the advantage of green chipping? Guys find it easier to chip putts in instead of actually putting them?

I cannot stand people that do everything they possibly can to figure out a way to cheat the game to get ahead. I remember when my little brother used to find the fastest guy in Madden (offense or defense) and put him at quarterback and just run shotgun quarterback sweeps all game. He used to do it with Charles Woodson from the Raiders when he had 99 speed and it would drive me nuts. Funny to think about now because it was a brother vs. brother thing, but you get my point.

Basically, unless a guy has a makeable putt after his approach shot (say, within ten feet or so) he'll pitch the ball at the hole and either hole out or have a one or two foot putt for no worse than par. It is much easier, especially with the precision putting to get the ball close.

I first saw this when I finally played 07 or 08 online, before the whole simultaneous play thing, and watched a guy actually pitch the ball on anything that might otherwise risk a three putt.

            I was so mad lol.

That is BS. I would think it would be pretty easy for EA to eliminate this.

I agree. I played in one yesterday and had only one try. My score was terrible because of one bad hole. I really think that one try is the only way to go. But, I am sure the snot nosed kids will figure out a way around it.
