Re: CPU scores are ALWAYS extremely low?

    Just an update:

I decided to give it one more try. I played the Wentworth Classic for two rounds in career mode. I went 66/63 for -15 in two days, which is by far the best I've ever played.

This was good for 29th place. The winner went 59/60 for -25.

    I quit.

It's still a fine game, regardless of the complaints ... and trust me ... I'm ticked by the cpu scores too.

I do too...it's just too bad that unlocking some pro shop items requires you to win tournaments or pay MS points.

There's an Odessey putter that I really want to use, but I have to win the US Open to unlock it. Since the course at Bethpage in that event is tuned to be a difficult challege (super fast greens, extra long rough) and the winner in my season still shot a -29, there is little chance of me unlocking that putter at all.

As I said in an earlier post, I've seen low scores, but none that low. I just had my best-ever round, shot 61 at Pebble Beach. Perfect conditions, no wind, average greens and my swing was on. After the first round, I have an eight-shot lead over a big group in second at -3.

I can't shoot like that every time out, but if I could -- and I'm sure there are lots of players who can -- I wouldn't be happy winning by 30 strokes.

My point is this: How do you generate computer rounds that are both realistic and a challenge to the player? I hated the rubberband AI, but isn't it the only way to achieve competitive offline tournaments for player of various skills levels?

As far as Pebble, I have no idea why the CPU players had such poor rounds on a course that's very easy with no wind and slow greens. Yet Tiger shoots 60 at Pinehurst with very fast greens and moderate wind.

No rhyme or reason to that. I'm most disappointed that course difficulty and conditions seem to have no effect on scores.

I should play those more often.
My only issue with them is realism.
I don't like playing custom courses.
I want the same course for four rounds.

yeah....thats the bummer. Only tourney that was a real course was bethpage at the open. One thing i checked out last tourney was the holes they use in the customs do match the real life counter parts.

i cant remember specifics, but they had a long par 4 at AT&T (hole 5 or 6 i think) and the custom course used a par 5 that they turned into a par 4 so they could matchup with the real hole.

I didnt check every hole, but most did represent the correct par of the real course...meaning hole 1 was a par 4, and so was the custom

Wow. What a disappointment. I was literally just about to leave to buy this game but thought I would check in here first.

Thanks for the information, guys. And damn you EA for ruining yet another sport! Christ.
Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.

Now don't be a ***** for hatin's sake. Madden is the only game you can correctly dump on. Most of their other sports titles are good to very good, including this game. Your loss.

What they need to do is to tone down the RPG elements in the game and make it more difficult for players to shoot in the 50's rather than give us ridiculous AI scores to compensate for the "maxed out golfer" crowd. Honestly, there is no point to playing Tour Pro. You're better off playing on Pro, nerfing your attributes and not using any of the boosts.

The Wii has CPU difficulty settings. Why not the PS3 and 360 versions? Seems easy enough.

For those on 360 looking for some sort of realistic scores, post your gamertag to this thread:

                          http://www.operationsports.com/forum...derboards.html

At least you can use the friends leaderboard to compare against some reasonable scores.

Has anyone noticed any difference in the scoring after the patch? I'm in my first tourney post-patch. I'm shooting lights out, -18 after three rounds at Pebble, and second place is at -8. I haven't seen anything about the patch addressing low scoring, but that's a pretty big difference from what I'm used to seeing.

Man I hope you are right. I just snagged this game off of ebay and I was really excited to play it until I found this thread. Unrealistic scores would be a total game killer for me. Is anyone else experiencing better scoring after this patch?

It's the inconsistency. They've routinely screwed up elemental things. Certain years, certain games are above average. Most years, certain games are fundamentally flawed.

-40 and I'm "hating for hatin's sake"? Please.
