    Where are the Wii impressions.

I remember last year I got the Wii version a day early and started a thread and gave all my impressions with the then new motion plus and it had it's own thread and had multiple pages that night because I wanted to help people who were on the fence with the Wii version.

I know alot of you got this game yesterday so step it up and give some impressions. Turn off the game and let's hear some thoughts. How much more difficult is it from last year?

I'm picking up my TW copy this afternoon for the PS3 but I'm still unsure if I should flip it for the Wii version because of the improved mechanics, true view and true aim and the full course list. Mainly what I'm concerned about is the career mode for the Wii vastly improved because in TW10 there really wasn't a real season mode, it was just calender play with stupid challenges to qualify for the next level, and the season stats were non existent so it took alot of fun out of offline career mode and the game got boring fast. Have they made it to resemble the PS3\360 version for season mode?

And if no one got the game early then I apologize but there better be some keyboard tapping on it tonite.

Re: Where are the Wii impressions.

I will get the game on way home so I'll post impression later tonight. Can't wait and hope it is as realistic as it can be. Will help make the days it's to rainy for the real thing a bit more bearable....

Re: Where are the Wii impressions.

      Played a bit last night:
I love the true aim and true vision (or whatever it's called) a lot!

I have only done 2 of the challenges so far and a play now just by myself( first 3 holes: 7,6,4 lol ), so my created player is still low in the ability area

Love not knowing the exact distances and having to go by the "GPS" reading etc...
Basically the game is fun and challenging on Tour mode with aids off.

I'm returning the PS3 version but may pick it back up once thier Move controller drops.

Disk golf if very fun like last year (and an online option this year) and is the mini golf. I have only played 2 holes of it so far but it is what it is...

Is Tour mode the hardest swing level because I was reading some reviews on EA's website and they said it was pretty hard on the highest difficulty, I'm talking real life hard with constant hooks and shanks. Which is great because if it's that close to a golf simulator then it will be great to play with friends although I would guess it would be too hard to enjoy on career mode.

From videos I've seen it looks like putting with truevision on seems kinda weird because the contact with the ball doesn't seem right. Does putting feel natural for you.

And please when you get a chance with this game a little longer please post some thoughts on what the career mode is like, specifically is it better than the lame one they had last year and is there actually a real season mode with some actual PGA stat tracking.

Yep Tour Mode is the hardest...
As far as putting once I am ready to hit I don't even look at the screen after the intial look. When I swing I'm looking down at my imaginary ball

It's not a 100% accurate sim as far as ball striking but its pretty close. I have hooked a few and sliced a few. Supposedly you can even miss the ball but that hasn't happend yet. lol

I play just like I'm out on the real course. I check distance (GPS) wind and lay of the land......then pick a club. I take a practice swing or 2 to feel the right swing for the distance I need....then I swing.

My first 3 holes were: Triple bogey, bogey and par. I got par due to hitting a decent approach and then draining roughly a 10 footer. It had zero break so I just needed the right speed.

I'm not saying it's a be all sim game but it's as close as I've seen and it's fun and challenging. Makes you feel good when you make a solid swing especially with aids off and true view and aim.

Once I get my player up a bit I'll start up a career... Can't wait to start it.

Were you playing with a CAG or using a tour pro to play a round. Are the accumulation of XP to build up skills used the same way as the PS3\360 versions? How are the graphics? On par with last year as in not very good?

I'm playing the PS3 version now and have trouble putting at the default levels with my CAG. Do you find the same problems or is the swing and putting based solely on your swing. I know last year it didn't really make a difference on how low rated your CAG was.

              CAG

Didn't play 360/PS3 versions last year or this year yet

Graphics are "ok" nothing special but then again the Wii isn't about the graphics lol I bought a PS3 version for that. There's some "tearing" etc..

I really don't have many issues putting. Not saying I make a bunch but I'm not missing by a bunch. I've 3 putting etc..
Once I got down my speed/distance it was then just a matter of reading the breaks etc and adjusting.
I love the challenge... and I've yet felty cheated by the game when I do bad. When I screw up it's either a bad swing or stupid club selection etc...

                    Question...

I assume left handed golfers work on the controller and can be played in game?

Interested in the career mode and how it differs from the ps3 one...
                    Thanks.

I don't have this year's game, but left handed golfers worked in the past version with motion plus, so I'm sure there in there this year.

Looks like the new cameras have me making the upgrade, I was going to skip this year's version for now, but it's too tempting.

Re: Where are the Wii impressions.

Played a quick "play now" last night and struggled on the highest difficulty ratings in the game. I played as Tiger and still shot a 47 on the front nine at Greenbriar or something like that.
I never actually missed the ball, but did have a few shanks. Putting was very real once you got a feel for the distance, but it is still challenging to hit the ball straight.

True-view is pretty awesome and you can play it vertically or horizontally. I prefer horizontal because then I can stand parallel to the TV and see the club head meet the ball. Vertically it is like you are more hitting it where you aim, if that makes sense. you stand with your side facing the TV and your swing is at the TV.

I have only played the 9 holes so far, but am very excited to get home from work to play more. The cool thing was, I was playing on Tour difficulty and after 9 holes the game said some like "you are struggling, maybe you would like to change to advanced so there are no shanks." It then gave me the option to accept or decline. I thought that was hilarious.

I will say that it is not a perfect sim, as normally I have a draw to my shots and in game I tend to hit a fade, but once I figure out where the "contact" area is I can adjust my wrists to make sure I hit the draw, but is it very fun. Chipping and the short game are going to take a while and the use of yardage markers, instead of the aiming arrow, make this game very challenging.

Graphically, it is typical Wii. Not the best, but I think the gameplay makes up for it. May check out the PS3 version when Move comes out, but for now I think this will be my rainy day golf solution.

You can choose between a left and right handed golf swing.

Re: Where are the Wii impressions.

I've played 45 holes so far and after the first 18 I had to turn back the difficulty to Advance Plus as I was shanking balls quite a bit in the Tour Pro mode. The first person view is interesting, when you are about to hit the ball you see you club above the ball, the position of the Wiimote when you press the B button determines everything so your initial setup needs to be correct. I placed a real ball at my feet so I could be consistent and looking back and forth between the screen and the ball can mess you up so you should pick your view and stay with it.

The swing is really precise and your follow through is important and I didn't realize that at first so now I'm hitting straighter shots. I wish there was a true Driving Range so I could practice instead of using mulligans, it's a must for next year. I am finding on the driver I really have to swing hard to get 100% power unless I really snap my wrists but then my accuracy is off. Putting feels really nice this year and consitent and the greens can be tough.

The way they handle experience is awesome, I didn't read anything on it so it was new to me. You gain xp based on how you play, if you hit in the fairway, gir, and bogey or better then you get rewarded with +xp, if you hit in the sand or water or do worse double bogey you get -xp and after one 9 hole round I did poorly and ended up getting a -xp total and my total xp went down so you need to keep doing well or you will lose levels which does add to the pressure.

The speed play is nice in that you can skip everything and just go shot to shot and I hope that made it to the 360 and PS3 versions. I didn't get to try out the career mode to see how that plays but I hope they fixed the issue where your starting position in a tourn was based on your score and that you don't play in the last group every round. I played 4 holes of mini-golf and it plays ok and there are quite a few courses so it will be good for group play.
