Thanks for the heads up about the "no locked courses", that might make a difference. I'll explain why it might be a deal breaker for me. I don't spend a whole lot of time playing most of the games I get. For one like TW I'd like to be able to just start a career with a golfer that's already built up. I just don't want to spen the time having to build up attributes, even if they might be easy, it still takes time. Maybe I'll rent it.

Nah, built my Golfer up by playing the Skills Challenge in Beginner mode....the idea being that you want a Golfer built quickly....this is the way to do it.PC / Xbox One X

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
I really do not see what the big deal is or why this would be a dealbreaker. You could easily create any Pro you wish with Photo Gameface and build the golfer to the right attributes to give you the stats that he/she currently plays to. Not to mention there are no courses locked either....
I want to start my PGA career with the attributes of at least a halfway decent PGA caliber player. Personally, I want nothing to do with having to "level up" my golfer, or buying new clothes/clubs/sunglasses, etc. I just want to play golf.Comment

I'm lucky to get 4 hours per week of gaming, I just don't have the time to build a golfer.Comment

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
The deal is that I dont want to spend my first 6 tournaments in the Pro Tour "building" my golfer. It's a waste of time. It's ridiculous to have to start a PGA career only being able to hit a driver 188 yards.

What golfer at any level of golf at all would ever have to do that? What is the logic in this?Comment

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
TW is not the only game guilty of this. It's common practice with any sports game that is not a team sport. UFC, Fight Night and tennis games all do the same things. Doesn't make it right but since there didn't seem a big outcry in previous games (there was more complaining about locked courses) then it doesn't get changed.
It's somewhat of a pain but for me it's better to play all the 17 courses one trime thru just to see how they they play out and by then I have lotsa XP points earned. All that takes is several hours.
Does everything have to be "I want everything now". Just enjoy that we finally have a good golf game this year.Comment

That's a great point -- get to know the courses a bit and in the meantime build up your XP. Makes sense from the perspective of a tour pro as well. Realistically, they wouldn't enter a tourney without having played the course a number of times first.Comment

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
I wouldnt want to do a season as a real golfer, I like doing it with my CAG as build his stats up.
But I agree thats its silly that its not an option for those that would want to.
If I want to play a season as Camilo Villegas, or Tiger, or whoever... why cant I?Comment

In Fight Night, for example, you don't fight Lennox or Ali in the first 20 or so fights. You are fighting other club type fighters as you build your own stats. Also, I can start my career with Holyfield or Klitschko or whomever (they just don't have the ratings up)...in Tiger, I can't. There is no choice for Lefty or Sergio or whomever.
In Tiger, however, you are teeing off and playing the Ali's and Tyson's from the very start.
So in theory your example just doesn't apply and doesn't have an equal.
It is simply really, really lazy and stupid. There should be two options...Build a Pro (where the PGA Tour mode in Tiger is currently constructed) and a basic PGA Tour Mode (where you come in as a PGA Tour pro).Comment

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
Not entirely true. In Fight Night and in tennis games...yes, you do start your career like in Tiger, however you play most of your beginning career against similar ability players.

At least in TW you can get XP doing other things, in FN4 starting a career is the only way to build up your boxer.
I don't know of any golf games where I would want to jump into season mode right away, especially this year with true aim. You always need a couple of days to get somewhat good and get used to the controls. If you use Tiger right off the bat in season mode you're gonna finish last every time.
I think a much bigger pain is after finshing the 5 year season mode that I can't start over with the same CAB and have to make a new one from scratch and I still haven't got an answer to that one but that would be lazy and stupid.Comment

Re: Can I play PGA Tour with a real golfer?
Actually, his example IS valid. You can always start your career in lower difficulty levels until your character can become competitive at the higher levels. OR, you could do like I do and build your Golfer in the Skills Challenge until your Golfer is where you feel you CAN be competitive, then start your PGA TOUR Season. Note, I am not defending the design, just offering alternatives that to me seem to be much better than not playing at all.PC / Xbox One X
