I almost always just walk, but I typically just play 9 holes. I don't want to slow people behind me down too bad, and I figure the odds of that are less if I only play 9, as I'm not very good yet (I'm down to around 60, and improving each time out, but still).

Do you get a cart?
When you guys go play a round, do you normally get a cart or walk it?

Re: Do you get a cart?
Well, considering im 17 and you must be 18 to rent a cart, I always walk 18. I like to ride, but then again, who doesn't? Walking is that bad either thoughNCAA: Kansas Jayhawks & Wichita State Shockers

Re: Do you get a cart?
I always used to walk when I was young. My hometown course didn't even have carts anyways.
Now that I'm old and fat, I almost always ride. Stamina becomes an issue after the front nine, and I'd rather have energy to swing if possible. Plus drinking and walking on a hot day don't bode well at all.Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
I have no aversion to walking it, but we (my wife and I) ride because we're not that good. If I were a sure-shot, I might walk more.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: Do you get a cart?
Most of the time get a cart, but only because the people I'm playing with usually do (and most courses seem set up for it these days).
I actually like to walk more than ride - it's just pleasant and peaceful. The only thing that makes walking bad is having to carry your clubs...not that they're that heavy, it just gets annoying after 5-6 holes. If I could walk and have someone else carry my clubs (i.e. caddy), I think that'd be ideal. But a lowlife like myself can't afford to play anywhere where they actually have caddies...plus, being a former caddy at a very snobby country club (think Bushwood x10) when I was a kid, I don't know how I'd feel about patronizing any place that had caddies.
Oh, and for the record, I don't actually think carts speed the game up all that much, so for those that are walking-averse for that reason, I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't really matter if you get to your ball 3 minutes faster if you have to stand around and wait 10 minutes to hit anyway, so speed really boils down to ready-golf moreso than cart/no cart. Unless the course is just wide-open (i.e. dream scenario), but when does that ever happen?Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
I use a cart simply for the fact I am not carrying around my cooler of non-alcoholicbeverages for 5 hours.

Re: Do you get a cart?
I walk about 75% of the time. When I take a cart, I feel like I'm being rushed to play a round. I like to walk, take in the scenery and relax while I play the most frustrating game in the world.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

Re: Do you get a cart?
Agree with tysoke...always walk when the courses allow me too....unfortunatley some places do not...they think it slows players up to walk which i think is untrue. They just want to make the money from the cart.Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
if you have a golfer who is not looking for the ball for 10 minutes when hit into the brush and is not taking 400 practice swings...is there to golf and not drink beers and run into the bush to relieve himself..it moves just fine...:-) When u have a cart with 2 people and one person hits left and one hits right..u have a timing issue...again...this is what i have seen maybe not everybody has the same experience..:-) There is a lot to be said for taking a shot and walking directly to where it's hit while your thinking about your next shot instead of thinking where you have to leave the cart.Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
My course is a pretty easy walk so I just use my push cart and go.STEAM PROFILE: STEAM_0:1:39676753Comment

If riding partners are on different sides of the hole, you drive over, let him take his club and drive to your ball.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with walking. If you like it go ahead.
But to say it isn't slower than riding is simply incorrect.Comment
