Re: Do you get a cart?
actually i stand corrected...though i believe walking is much more like the way golf should be there are courses that are just too long to walk. Example..the Lighthouse in Ocean City..beautiful course with the longest cart bridge in the country....you just cannot walk it..Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
Re: Antec's comments, I honestly don't think carts speed up the game all that much. Maybe marginally, but you've all been on the muni's and public courses - it doesn't matter how fast you get to your ball, you're waiting around to hit for at least 5-10 minutes after you get there anyway. And two people walking straight to their ball, especially if they're far away from each other, is no more time-consuming than driving to one, waiting for the guy to get out and snag a club, then driving to the other, then picking the other guy up after hitting, etc....there ends up being a lot of wasted driving in cart golf. I think it may be a little faster if all golfers know what they're doing, but I see a lot more bone-headed stuff from cart-golfers than I ever do with walkers...Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
I usually don't play on the weekends so that helps but I rarely wait long at all while playing a regular round of golf. Sometimes when I'm in 170+ person tournaments but that's about it and even then not always. I've never waited "at least 5-10 minutes" for my shot unless it's in a tournament with lunch on the course or something of that nature and it causes a jam.
I golf at public courses 99% of the time for what it's worth.Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
For 9 I usually walk but 18 I almost always get a cart.
For me the cart with a roof is a nice shelter from the sun during long rounds. I don't mind walking as much, but I hate baking out in the middle of the fairway waiting to play a shot.Go Sabres!Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
if you have a golfer who is not looking for the ball for 10 minutes when hit into the brush and is not taking 400 practice swings...is there to golf and not drink beers and run into the bush to relieve himself..it moves just fine...:-) When u have a cart with 2 people and one person hits left and one hits right..u have a timing issue...again...this is what i have seen maybe not everybody has the same experience..:-) There is a lot to be said for taking a shot and walking directly to where it's hit while your thinking about your next shot instead of thinking where you have to leave the cart.Comment

My friends and I once finished 18 holes (with a foursome) in 2.5 hours on a wide open course, without hurrying at all - and the cart definitely helped. Actually, that particular course you can't even walk because it was "resort style" (aka sprawling all over the place), but we didn't rush at all, played at our own pace, and realized it was only 10:30 when we finished after our 8AM tee-off.
And yes, we did what any right-thinking golfers would do in that situation (without even any discussion): went around again.Comment

Re: Do you get a cart?
I always ride. I just don't have enough endurance to make it through the 9 hole course that I play on. Also, it's nice to know you can get 18 holes in the same time you would take to hit 9.Rose City 'Til I Die
