Re: PS Move with TW12-Yay or nay?

MAN i can't wait to pick up the move for TW 12. I'm trying to be patient as I'm purchasing it with the SOCOM 4 bundle since it seems to be a good deal for the $. Honestly, having a motion controlled golf game has been a dream of mine for quite a while.. haha.
Even with it's few shortcomings, I think I will be obsessed with TW12 for a while. Thanks for all the impressions guys! Keep em coming..

To change clubs with the Move, after entering Aiming Mode (pressing Trigger and the Move button while aiming up), hold in the trigger and press X to cycle through clubs.

Thank you! This was the only thing I wasn't able to figure out, and I couldn't seem to find everything. Everything else I have gotten very comfortable with using the Move alone.

As for my experience, after a few rounds, I've gotten comfortable enough with everything that I don't even think about it. The fundamental drawback to the Move when compared to the Wii remote is that the Move lacks directional buttons, so it takes a while to get used to accomplishing certain things that were done with the D-pad. But once you get past the learning curve, it's actually very quick and seamless. Reading that description above of how to do everything makes it seem really clunky, but in practice, after you play for a while you don't even have to think about it. Even navigating the menus with the Move is not a big deal with a little practice.

The gameplay is finally spot-on with the Wii version (and I played a LOT of the Wii version over the years), so finally being able to play the game exclusively with a motion controller in HD is a godsend, especially now that Augusta is available. Playing at a course as beautiful as Augusta with the crappy Wii graphics would have been a big letdown, so I'm really glad that everything came together this year.

Bottom line: if you persevere with the initial difficulties in acclimating yourself on how to accomplish certain things, soon it becomes second nature and the gameplay payoffs are well worth the effort to do so. Ever since I played the Wii version, I knew I could never go back to something like moving a mouse or an analog stick, and now that the Move support has been improved and I can play these beautiful courses in HD, I know I'll never be able to go back to the Wii either.

It's absolutely well worth owning the Move just for this game if you are anything close to a hardcore golf game fan, IMO. I happen to be a light-gun game nut as well, so the Move was a total no-brainer for me, but even there were no other Move games I wanted, I would have bought this exclusively as my "virtual golf club," no question about it.

Is there a drastic difference with the move from the demo to retail version? I have the retail still wrapped and just but the move and have 15 days to return it if it doesn't blow me away. Is it fair to test the move on demo only or is retail a big upgrade?

Also wondering how many folks play exclusively w move and what setting? Sorry for the newb-type questions just excited to have virtual golf game and willing to deal w navigation issues.

Not sure if you can take anything away from how I felt about TW12 and the Move, but I traded my PS3 and Move in for another 360. I feel like the move is in need of a complete overhaul for TW12. In fact, IMO TW11 Move functionality (swing-wise) was better. I have made some suggestions on the EA Tiger forums for the Devs to consider for TW13 and I hope they consider them....

I think the move justifies $99 just for Tiger Woods 2012 alone... For the nay-sayers of TW 2012, Its like using a controller for a racing game and saying asking if its realistic. Well... no because you don't drive a car using a controller.

In TW2012, the move controller resembles the feel of a golf club. The Move is very specific to how you hold the club and where you position the ball in your stance. Putting is realistic as well.

I haven't been a TW golf fan because using a controller to play golf is totally lame. However, the Move makes TW 2012 absolutely phenominal.

I played my first 18 holes last night I enjoyed everything but the putting. I think with time and me loweing it to easy that should solve the problems I had.

Could not disagree more...IMO, the Move was so poorly implemented in TW12, I sold my Move and PS3 and went back to the 360 with Kinect to play Golf with a controller. I will be looking forward to TW13 with Kinect (cautiously) and I hope that the Move in TW13 is SUBSTANTIALLY better than it was in 12, because I feel it was a monumental flop.

Totally agree with Divot on this score... the Move implementation in Tiger 12 was really ragged! The putting felt broken to me, like I was putting underwater. Thankfully I had GT5 and MLB 11: The Show to make my PS3 purchase not feel like a lost roll of the dice!

I hope they've redesigned the Move interface to something that actually works. It has a chance now that SKLZ has confirmed that they are going to be shipping the SimStix golf club attachment for the Move in April.
