How do I put spin on the ball before it's hit

I disabled in-flight spin, but I want to know how to put spin before the swing on the ball.

You can put backspin on the shot when you are creating your shot. Pull the right stick down (for backspin) or up for top spin. You can also move it left or right for draw/cut spin. The graphic is available while you are creating the shot in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
