EA makes the game for the average consumer. You simply have to make the adjustments to make it more difficult. The first thing I will do when I get 2004 is go to the settings and start changing the default option.

I disagee BD, it more than catering to them, it's dumbing down the sport. Let's face it if you spent any time with Tiger you would be shooting 58 and yes I admit that's with some of the aids turned on.

EA Sports think that's what causal gamers want to see and gamer were you can shoot 55. I think more causal gamers would have been pleased with a game that rewarding to shoot 64 at Pebble when it's windy and to regualary shoot around poor on your not so good days. That's what the pros do and this shouldn't be any different.

EA Sports doesn't truly understand that casual gamer because that casual gamer don't really have that much in-put in games other than sales. However, if you look at two games across the pond that rival EA Sports in sales that's PES (WE Soccer) and some racing titles. They aren't dumbed down for the consumer, they provide a realistic game that's accesable for the gamer.

EA Sports still needs to put in one or two more levels and options for those gamers that don't want to spend thousands for a nice PC and want to game in the comfort of their living room. For them it wouldn't be too hard to make a level that is challanging for them. But EA Sports is kind alike hollywood they think if you try to make a serious game people won't buy it.

            Re: First TW 2004 review

If TW2004 is typical of other EA online games, you will have to play with default sliders or settings online, probably only changing difficulty.

And this year, you have to play a certain difficulty in order to have games ranked and your stats recorded.

I will let you guys try TW first I know longer trust EA sports. I was a fool and bought Nascar 2004. EA is great at hype but just can't (won't) but it all together. I don't care how many courses there are, if I shoot low 70's high 60's right off the bat it's no fun for me.

At least this year you cna take it online adn shoot in the high 50's to low 60's against someone doing the same to make it a little more challenging. I do agree it was a little simple since my dad you CAN'T play video games well hit 3 hole in one's the first 36 holes he played. Yes adjusting the sliders and difficulty will help and is something that can be done but a little more difficulty would be nice. Anyone going to set up a OS TW Tourney?

If people would simply go into the settings they could make the very challenge they are looking for. Throw some wind out there. Play with a golfer that does not have all their filled up attributes and the most imporatinst of them all..... Remove all grids and caddy tips. You want a challenge? You want a smiulation? Do these things and the come back to me that the game is too easy.

EA provides these things but can't force a user to change them.

Just to play devil's advocate, why can't EA make the default setting challenging, meaning an player of decent understanding of golf might shoot 66 in one of his better rounds. Then they can leave the options open to dumb it down for the real n00bs if need be. I'm sorry, but the last two years have been a joke. When my 67 year old father can shoot 62 and get a hole in one his first time out, something is wrong. Not to mention that the CPU opponents eventually get so hard that you have to shoot 15-16 under to win the round.

I've been a golfer all my life and real golf is nothing like it is in TW 2002 and 2003.

I really hope 2004 is better.
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?
