    TechTV preview links 2004

    http://www.techtv.com/xplay/previews/story/0,24330,3500931,00.html

"As in the real game, gameplay is about focus and consistency. The real-time swing scheme uses the analog stick, and the scheme is as twitchy and overreactive as you are. Expect inadvertent slices and hooks. The controls are sensitive, but the player has complete control over each stroke and swing. Die-hard golf fans who cringe at the fast-and-blast approach of fantasy golf games will grin at the prospect of dismantling players spoiled by fantasy golf videogames."

    and

""Links 2004" for the Xbox is looking like one of the most promising golf titles on the horizon, but only for gamers who want the challenge of the real thing without goofy courses with walking mushrooms"

    Re: TechTV preview links 2004

Sounds just like what I'm looking........woops! Sorry, just made my 15th hole in one on Tiger Woods. I'm 15 under after 14 holes and I'm one down.

But as I was saying, Links 2004 sounds exactly like the console golf game I've been waiting for.
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

Take the aids off and play with a golfer whose attributes are not jacked up, and then come talk to me about being 15 under. Also, come talk to me when you're 15 under in Links, because you will be at some point.

You know, I'm sick of people telling me to make changes to a game to artificially make it appear harder. Telling me to play with a golfer whose attributes aren't jacked up is like telling me to play a football game using the Bengals.

We shouldn't have to do crap like this. The point of the game is to turn your guy into the best golfer he can be and that means increasing his attributes. I think my current guy is around 75% maxed and I'm hitting 380 yard drives. That's just stupid.

They should make the game have difficulty levels like Rookie, Pro, Superstar, or make the attribute points a whole lot harder to earn. This is exactly the same thing that happened to me last year with Tiger Woods 2003. Within two weeks I had maxed my guy out, unlocked everything, and the fun was gone.

Let me say this one more time....we SHOULD NOT have to try and artificially make the game a challenge...if you want to, that's your business, but I will use the resources given me to beat the game, which is the reason for playing it.

In regards to Links, it sounds like they have made the analog swing a bit more squirlly, which should make it more challenging to begin with. Not sure if you ever played Outlaw Golf, but it still is the only golf game that's ever handled the analog stick swing properly. I don't care how good you were, if your swing wasn't absolutely perfect, you would slice or hook the ball accordingly. I have no idea why developers can't use their engine and make a true simulation out of it.

I have to have high hopes for Links because once again, Tiger Woods is a joke.
