And it's not DLC if it's in the disk, right?

And just what indication do you have that the DLC is on the disc, aside from you just stating that it is? (The 200+ MB file that I had to wait for when I downloaded my Wolf Creek Pre-Order bonus yesterday would certainly beg to differ)

Even if it was all on the disc and required no additional download, how is the current setup any different than the older games in the series, which required you to play through the game to unlock new courses?

I was thinking about that very question this morning as I was doing math to figure out how many coins I would need to play my first download course. While it used to require time to unlock the courses it doesn't seem like it took nearly as much time as it would with this new coin system. To me, the coins just seem like a way for EA to say, "Hey, you can get it for free if you play the game enough" without really acknowledging the sheer number of hours and achievements it would take to unlock the courses. On the other hand, I guess the real question is whether we would be satisfied if the only courses that existed were the ones that came with the game. If the answer to that question is yes for the person playing the game, then the price or availability of the download courses shouldn't even matter.

This thread is basically a troll to get the kneejerk "cmon man its EA" response, which is garbage. EA is doing some of the most innovative things with online play despite being the pioneers of the online pass, including basically allowing free online play in ssx with the pass just unlocking your winnings, and the dlc (disc locked content is the new acronym meaning btw) model here.

Ya it's outrageous to be able to set up my tournaments with the conditions I want, that's crazy talk... your right that is garbage and an unreasonable request. I should be happy being spoon fed coins and exciting opportunity to pay them more money. I guess no one rememebers or is old enough to remember Tiger Woods on the Sega Genesis. DLC is now disk locked content"? .. that's so cute... .

It is not an unreasonable request, but it is certainly not one that is getting any play with EA as it is not a requested feature.

You do NOT have to buy any coins or purchase anything. I played PGA TOUR on the Sega Genesis with all 5-6 courses total. Yeah, that is an apples to apples comparison......

No need for the attitude. Of course I remember the Genesis. And you don't seem to understand this is not something EA is being asked for. If so many people are upset about the DLC, why is EA selling more of it every single year? I get that you don't like the game and are simply here to slam it. If YOU really want this to change, why are you not telling the EA Devs on the EA forums?

I am being defensive because people are calling a request like this garbage.. I love the series that's why I want to play it how I want to play it.. As a matter of fact, I worked directly with EA on an earlier version on the PC. They ended up putting me in the game as a pro golfer on every copy.. So no.. I do not hate the game.. Just wish it was more customizable.. Which was the whole point of this thread...

I only responded to say that there are mechanisms to accomplish what you are looking for, but not exactly what you want. That and I have found very few people who would utilize that option....

There are no bad ideas however, so if others would use this, there would be no harm to put it in....

No need to get defensive. Not once did I call your reqjuest "garbage". I too have worked with EA on TW2004/2005 and 2006 doing all of the photography and filming of 6 courses in the game. All I said was people are not requesting such a feature. Big difference.

Imagine if Tiger had a feature where you went to exhibition and could play that weekends current tournament and even include the players who were involved? You could even have the commentators discuss what impact that tournament has on the PGA Tour season?

Because they hold back more and more each year in much of their games and release it as DLC. That's why people are buying more and more each year, because they have to in order to get the "full" game.

I agree with the guy. The DLC/Unlockable courses make up the majority of the courses available at the start of TW13. That shouldn't be. I get that they are "free" in the sense that I can get them after playing about 100 hours of the game but EA knows what they are doing. The casual gamer will be forced to buy them to play all them because by the time they've put in the time to unlock all of the courses it's time to move on to a new game.

Just rubs me the wrong way I guess.

This is just my two cents, but how is the DLC situation on Tiger Woods 13 any different than the DLC situation on a game like Call of Duty? The only differences I see are that the DLC on Call of Duty are released periodically starting with a month or two after the initial release of the game. That seems like a strategy to keep the game fresh and relevant. The other difference is that it's possible to get the DLC on Tiger Woods for free if you play the game enough (admittedly more than some people are willing to or have time for). That's not possible for many games that offer DLC.

I'm not saying anyone's opinions on this are right or wrong. Just saying that paying for DLC isn't a new concept.

And as far as playing non-career mode offline tournaments and the comparison to the Sega Genesis game, it seems to me that as sports games became more robust, some of the "simpler features" went away. My memory is fuzzy, but weren't playing a single round or playing a tournament the only options on the Sega Genesis? Now we have many many different things to do in the game (plus mid-round saves for some modes), whether we like all of them or not. When new things are added, there's always the possibility some old things may disappear.
