Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
TW12 = 16 courses on disk FIXED THAT FOR YOU http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Woods_PGA_Tour_12
TW13 = 16 courses on disk (plus 5 more for an extra $10 with the special edition)
Because that's MY point. Congratulations you took a year when they completely stripped down the courses and made you pay for all of them and compared it to a year when they realized that was a horrible business decision... and it's still the same # of courses.
If you're fine with a company nickle and diming you that's great, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be okay with it.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
This is just my two cents, but how is the DLC situation on Tiger Woods 13 any different than the DLC situation on a game like Call of Duty? The only differences I see are that the DLC on Call of Duty are released periodically starting with a month or two after the initial release of the game. That seems like a strategy to keep the game fresh and relevant. The other difference is that it's possible to get the DLC on Tiger Woods for free if you play the game enough (admittedly more than some people are willing to or have time for). That's not possible for many games that offer DLC.
I'm not saying anyone's opinions on this are right or wrong. Just saying that paying for DLC isn't a new concept.
And as far as playing non-career mode offline tournaments and the comparison to the Sega Genesis game, it seems to me that as sports games became more robust, some of the "simpler features" went away. My memory is fuzzy, but weren't playing a single round or playing a tournament the only options on the Sega Genesis? Now we have many many different things to do in the game (plus mid-round saves for some modes), whether we like all of them or not. When new things are added, there's always the possibility some old things may disappear.
I'm not trying to get into that whole discussion since it's always an endless argument. I'm happy that I can earn these courses for free through hours of playing on the courses that are included and that I don't ABSOLUTELY HAVE to pay for them to play them. But it's obviously still a money grab, and one that is a little too unfriendly to consumers in my opinion.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
It's not much difference. Call of Duty DLC has the same # of complaints. The fact that children have their parents buy the DLC without having any clue really what they are purchasing means that adults have to pay more and more for things that used to be in the game. If it were something stupid like extra Hats or avatar stuff no big deal, I'm fine with my normal stuff. But when you are taking 1/2 of the courses on the disk out of a golf game and making you pay to play them (or pay coins which = time) that's a little much.

I sorta understand your point, but how is providing extra content through download (purchase or otherwise) considered taking half the courses off the disc or requiring us to pay for things that used to be in the game? I don't remember any golf game that had 30-plus courses on it made by any company, not just EA. Microsoft used to charge $20 for three or four add-on courses for Links and you need to buy a handful of add-on discs before you got to 30 total. At least before the course creator was introduced and people started posting courses online.
If EA was giving us a disc with five courses and asking us to buy (or earn) the other 25, then I can see a complaint. Or if it was Tiger Woods 13: The Masters, but you had to purchase Augusta, there would be reason to complain. But if you ask me, having 14 or 15 courses on the disc to begin with is pretty good.
Yes, it's a money grab, but that's what EA is in business for. If they weren't in the business of making money, the game would be free. If you don't want to pay the money, enjoy the 14 or 15 courses that come with the initial purchase. That's what some people do. If you want the other courses, do what it takes to acquire them. It's not like EA kept this aspect of the game a secret prior to the release date. If you don't like it, don't buy the game to begin with. I know that sounds like a big "eff you," but it's just the way it is.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
We go through this every year. At some point, can we stop being "surprised" that EA has DLC courses with Tiger Woods golf? That's fine if you don't like it but if you don't like the practice why are you still playing?Last edited by kerosene31; 03-30-2012, 03:05 PM.Go Sabres!Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
What's your point? How many courses were on the Tiger 10 disk?
Because that's MY point.
That list you linked to includes courses that were DLC.
How are they making you pay for stuff that used to be in the game? My quick Google research tells me that Modern Warfare 3 has 16 multiplayer maps on the disc. What shooters have you been playing years ago that had some significantly larger amount of maps in them? Most shooters I've ever played had equal or less for number of maps.
Look up the Tiger Woods games on the previous gen systems. For the most part, they had about the same or less in terms of number of golf courses on the disc that we get now. One year that I found had a few more but it also had five or six fantasy courses instead of all of the on disc content being licensed.
There hasn't been some significant decrease in the number of courses that the games are including like you're implying. The number of courses has mostly stayed the same throughout the years. The only difference now is that you can choose to pay to get even more on top of the standard amount that you get, and always have gotten, on the disc.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
Drop into an offline tournament to play any course at any time.
It sure would be fun to have played Bay Hill this weekend like the pro's but no, EA spends endless amounts of time cramming more ways to pay them money on the UI screens in lieu of offering more ways to enjoy the game.
I will have to go back to the Genesis version to play any tournament at will.. BEYOND LAME.......
They have completely lost sight of what would make the game fun for the user to squeeze every dime out of us sheeple who buy it every year... I know, I should not be shocked...
I'm waiting to see the "3 click swing" DLC. They must've left that out for a reason. I found it entirely unplayable without it. Some poor fool probably bought it expecting that to be there and can't play either.Comment

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
FALSE. They offered just as many courses on the disc as the past 2 years. They have also made it possible to gain access to DLC courses without paying for them. Each version IS a full version of the game, but there IS added content for those wanting to pay for it.PC / Xbox One X

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
Really ridiculous comment IMO. 3-Click is gone because it does not fit with the new swing mechanic. And frankly, the new swing mechanic is the best console golf swing interface I have ever played and if you do not take time to practice and master it, then this game is likely not for you.PC / Xbox One X

Re: Tiger Woods 13 where you cannot.....
See what I did there?
But alas, I'm done arguing about it in this thread. It always leads to the same "this game charges for such and such DLC so I don't see the big deal" or "they need to make money this is a business you know" which are total copout excuses to me. My problem is with DLC on the whole and the whole "business" of DLC. But it'll get me no where. The game is fun, I enjoy playing. I just wish I didn't have to spend money or play the game for 200 hours to get all of the courses available to me.Comment
