It's completely ridiculous, and for him to give the game a 6.5, which in this day and age means it's garbage to the people that base their purchase off of their judgement, is bad journalism. Unfortunate.

IGN review is terrible.
I'm not one to harp on one persons opinion, however this is ridiculous. He spends 1/3 of the review going on about the DLC costs, and the coin system to unlock them. He also goes on *consistently* about the new controls and how he couldn't seem to learn them within 5 minutes.

Re: IGN review is terrible.
Why do people always criticize reviews? There nothing more than opinions. That was the reviewers opinion, and he was entitled to it. I had no problem with the review, because his criticisms of the dlc structure are valid and a game breaker for me and I assume many others. Your complaint about his take on the learning curve is uninformed, because he goes on to say once you learn the mechanics, the control you have over each shot is much more rewarding and is one of the major improvements to the game. -
6.5??? Laughable at best

Re: IGN review is terrible.
Another thing that pulled the score down was legacy mode, which the reviewer thought was terrible. I haven't seen any comments here about it, although I haven't really looked, so I assume for most it's not something their even interested in. However, it is part of the game, so the reviewer has to consider it when writing their review.Comment

Re: IGN review is terrible.
I was already on the fence about getting this game anyways, but the demo was ok and this review stating how difficult it is to unlock everything sort of was the icing on the cake. Well let me say not difficult but time consuming. NBA2K and MLB2K have been sort of taking up a lot of my time. I was gonna get Tiger this week along with BlazBlue Extend on 360 and The Show on PS3. I will pass on Tiger this year or just Gamefly it.My Wii U ID is Mikeatris and Mathematik.

Re: IGN review is terrible.
The reviewer said you can pay $2 a round for the DLC per rd but you just can't keep it. Maybe he forgot to mention that you can purchase it and keep it????
To each his own is how I feel about reviews but at least tell the whole story. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: IGN review is terrible.
Guys, do not let this review sway your decision. This is the best effort by EA since it's inception. I have played every golf game ever made for any system and this one is moving in the right direction. These reviewers should not let personal bias enter into their reviews, and this guy definitely did. I usually don't trash reviews but this one reeks of amateurism. I had season pass and played non stop for the last three days and I cannot wait for my copy to arrive from Amazon today. I dare anyone to play with all of the difficulties dialed up and shoot par consistently to start. Yeah it is still in need of more work, like new commentary, and presentation but they nailed the gameplay. I have a job so I don't care if I pay a little extra for a few more courses, which really seems to bother this guy. Maybe they don't pay very well at IGN.Comment

Re: IGN review is terrible.
Well if he spent alot of his time on Legacy and found it lacking then you can't really blame him for concentrating on that part for the review. EA did promote the hell out of that feature making it seem like it was the best new thing to come out for TW13.
Hopefully this is a signal to EA to stop wasting time and resources on kiddie crap and concentrate on making a fleshed out career mode for next year.Comment

I'm glad I'm old enough to make my own decisions. Here's my first, not listening to IGN reviews anymore. What a total crap review, 6.5...Moderator

Re: IGN review is terrible.
This nugget was dropped in by one of the mods over at the EA Sports Tiger forums:
"Yeah lots of false info in that review including the cost of DLC. Its free for unlimited play by mastering the course where none of the requiements are difficult, just time consuming (6 rounds or so). There are tons of opportunties in game to earn coins to "purchase" rounds on DLC courses. While that reviewer is entitled to his opinion, it's also clouded by misinformation and some poor journalism."Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: IGN review is terrible.
He wasn't complaining about not being able to learn them in five minutes, he was complaining about the game not teaching the new control scheme to you and not giving you any feedback about what you did wrong if you do something wrong so that you can learn how to play better.
That's a completely valid complaint.Comment

I'm not a fan of the review, but calling this EA's best effort to date is ridiculous. It is a big step backwards from last year's effort, which was a total fail compared to TW 11. I'm sorry, but the gameplay has deteriorated at the expense of bells and whistles.
I'd give TW 13 a 4.5 out of 10, but for different reasons than the reviewer listed. It's. Too easy to hit straight drives. Short play is fubar, with a lack of nuance. And the putting meter is dumb.
Just like last year, the game looks great and has some really cool features. They are features I wish TW 11 had, minus Tiger Baby. But the actual gameplay bites.
I am playing on the 360 with a controller. I have a Kinect, but that is not how I want to play. Maybe the Kinect is more fun. But right now, it fails in the one area that matters to me. Gameplay.
