Re: XBOX 360 Country Club (TW13)

I have been flirting with setting my shots up more forward in my stance (for high trajectory) and/or setting the shot meter lower on the ball, again for higher trajectory... this will keep the ball higher and maybe keep the long shot I tend to hit from traveling so far..... Try that a few times and see if you can start hitting shorter... Just an idea....

      I will try that.

Have to admit, I haven't really messed too much with the whole sweet spot aiming thing.

      Thanks!

Well, early prognosis is...you are a genius!

Out of a bunker, aimed low, hit the ball within 2 foot of the hole.

Same issue. I don't understand the short game. When you are using irons and drivers, it seems that the top of the swing arc is the distance you're aiming marker is at.

When you are using your wedges, there's no way that is the case. I'm really inaccurate with these shots. Sometimes they are great, sometimes I find myself chipping fringe to fringe like 3 times.

Mess around with different shot types as well. When around the green I tend to go to my flop shot a lot to avoid over hitting it. The short game is all about feel. If you look at the meter and think "there's no way I should hit it that hard" chances are you are right.

It's almost funny when someone joins a game online because you can immediately tell who hasn't played many rounds yet by how they play around the greens. The front 9 they will go back and forth over the greens almost every hole.

I'm about to hop onto the game. I'll be inviting whoever is on to a party and to get into a couple games together.

I just posted a plus 17 on the club daily at Els club due to short game woes. Oh, and stubbornly trying to blast a long iron out of a fairway bunker with the lip towering over me. Which, tangent, is a major improvement in this version, the visuals really show course undulations and elevation changes much more dramatically than past years.

As to short game, I need to practice at our cc house difficulty level. Currently, its really frustrating.

You think we could get a roster of gamertags? Or is there a way to look at all of our members tags in game?

In game you can go to the member list.

Edit: We are officially a top 100 club now. Should move up quickly as we add more members. Still about 8 or 9 spots left.

Anytime you are out of the rough or sand.... Hit low on the shot meter.... do not go past the bottom of the ball however until you practice a few.... Glad I could help a bit...

Ohhh.. Tip #2.. Treat all chips, pitches, flops, ect. like a putt in terms of how you swing... that could help too...

                          I'll give you the details.

Also I mentioned it before but we just broke into the top 100. Let's get to that 25 member mark so we can really push to the top.

If I may make a suggestion, I think the putt preview should be turned off. It's a lot more fun, in my opinion, to try and read the green using the putting grid on it's own. Also, the top scores in the tournaments reflect that too lol... Bumping it to Tour Pro difficulty might be the solution.

The problem is we have guys that range from the -15 scores to the +15 scores. Once those +15 guys start getting close to par rounds it will be turned off.

Im gonna take a shot at some putting tips... If they work for some people, I may post them more publicly....

Obviously, we are all struggling to hit the elusive Perfect/Perfect... I can get them, but am not totally consistent yet... Here is how I try....

1st method.... Pull all the way back on the stick, but transition forward much earlier than you think. It does seem that if you try to transition when it hits the line, you always hit in the red... It almost feels like there is a slight delay there.. On the transition, do so very smoothly... not the quick motion most of us are used to in Tigers of old or how we swing our full swings.... I get a lot of slight overswings with perfect tempo on this method... makes putts more manageable..

2nd method.... Pull back slowly, never bringing the stick all the way back... As you near the line, again transition very smoothly, do not slam the stick forward... The drawback is you could get the Under/Slow but hey, that would be an improvement over 30 ft away on the other side of the green.....

The trick is to find a stroke and alignment that gets you into at least 2 putt territory and then you will start dropping some longer ones in the process... anything beyond 15 ft.. I want my stroke to ensure an easy swing swing 2ftr that a over/fast wont matter on...

Once you have your stroke, play the break appropriately.. if you are always a tad fast or over... put the putt preview on the outside of the cup and "know" it will break less because of the speed...

I am consistent enough to post -15 to -18 on 18 holes in pro... not enough however to give a stroke or 3 away on any given rd... I can put up a clunker too if I stop paying attention....

Tell me if that makes sense or helps in any way....
