I've shot about four rounds online on the Advanced level, with scores ranging from 78-83 on short tees, medium pin placements, breezy conditions.

Like Slug, I really need to work on my putting. My chipping also is lacking, too. My drives and irons seem to be fine, though.

This is a fantastic game. But I highly recommend starting on Advanced and taking your lumps as you learn. Creating a player on Basic and Intermediate is a waste of time unless you're a wanker who simply wants to build big stats for XSN.

Learning the game on advanced is very rewarding.

    Take care,
    PK

This is sounding fantastic. I picked it up and about to open it up. Hopefully I'll be eating humble pie in a little while. I have defended TW because I still like the arcade qualities sometimes, but I didn't think anyone could make a difficult console golf game. From what I'm hearing, it looks like I might have been wrong.

Damn, I just spent money on True Crime and Top Spin. I am going to have scrape up some dough for Links now.

Yeah, I'm not getting much sleep tonight. This game is great. I never thought I'd say that I would like it better than TW, but I do. Like others have said, you really have to think about what you're going to do. I set it on Advanced from the get go. In my first round at Superstition, I shot a 91!! Awesome. I sucked bad, but it was great. I've since started putting much better. I'm in the Match Play tournament on rookie at the moment. This guy keeps beating me. The challenges really help you learn the game. On advanced, this is definitely not a game that I'm going to be shooting in the 50s (at least not anytime soon). I'm really glad I gave this a chance. Thanks for all the impressions guys. If you haven't picked this game up, and you like golf, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Re: Links - how are you doing?

I find driving about as easy as Tiger. Granted there isn't any super drives of 360 yards but I might miss one or two fairway a round and that might be misjuding the wind on a dogleg.

Irons feels good but still a little easy to hit it straight. It's not all that easy to get the right distance.

Putting and chipping are perfect in my book. It feels good. Chipping isn't a gimmme and if you have a putt with a slope you better start praying.

For me it's a bit difficult to get the right length on putts but not overly hard.

Still I wish accuracy with irons and drives was harder. Too bad there isn't a sensitivity slider for that. That way if it gets too easy you can jack that thing up and if you are off a bit it will cost you.

One thing I don't like, that you seem to only three types of drives if you are trying to hit it straight, hook, normal, slice. I wish on mi****s you would just fade some off the green.

Overall a really solid game. And maybe it's like Tiger, as you get more stats it requires you to be more precise. I doubt that because with the pros on advanded I can hit all the fairways.

Jrod, you make me laugh. I don't think I've ever seen you just say that you enjoyed a game. You've always got to slam it for not being realistic enough for you, or for being too easy. I wish you would realize that no game in history has ever been perfect and no game ever will be. Why do you keep buying or renting video golf games anyway? Why not just buy yourself one of those electronic driving screens where the result depends on the swing of an actual golf club. That's the only way you're going to get the realism you desire. I've already hit about 3 or 4 out of bounds because, to my surprise, the analog is actually more sensitive than I thought they could make it. If you're expecting any video golf game to mimic real life, you're going to be waiting a long time. Please don't get me wrong here. I respect the opinions that you bring to the table. I just wish you would quit expecting perfection. I think it would help you enjoy the experience a lot more.

By the way, do the pros in the game already have skills that are raised? If so, why don't you use a created player? I know you said you don't like to have to start out low to get a challenge, but as you've seen, they haven't made any golf games that don't have that facet.
