It would be better if they could have said "Justin Rose just birdied the 13th hole to move into a tie for the lead at 17 under par", instead of "anytime you hear crowd noise like that, you know there's some movement at the top".

There are also more timely text drop-ins reporting on who's doing what elsewhere on the course. Again, it's not what I would think a current-gen console *could* do, but I think it's enough to demonstrate a bit of a regression from Tiger 10 to Tiger 14 in this category. I'm hoping Tiger 14's score and stat reporting are going to flow better and make more sense after the patch though. That will erase some of my current misgivings about it.
This certainly was a great touch.

I agree with everything you said. It's a fantastic golf game, easily the best I've ever played, and I really, really, like it. But it's still just a little frustrating when those particular aspects you mention could make it immortal. I mean seriously, how hard is it to have better commentary???!!! That *really* grates on me.

      - The broadcasting team is bad and they have no emotion
      - The crowds are small and emotionless. Like in a previous post when you said the hole in one meant nothing.
      - The way a ball reacts to sand and trees. Not good
      - And winning should be exciting. You should be able to play with someone else during tournaments offline. When I won my first event the announcers didn't even acknowledge it.

Like I said this is definitely the best TW game yet IMO. I still play it and still love it, but I doubt the TW franchise will ever get super realistic which is why I hope Perfect Parallel creates Perfect Golf to be a pure simulation.

      What are your thoughts?

Yeah, the commentary - and I hate to use this word - is lazy. I can see repetitive things. There's only so much you can say about a golf round as it is happening. But at least have those repetitive things cue at times that make sense.

I've moved on to muting the sound and playing music when I play. There is literally nothing in the sound department that is vital or adds to the game.

I agree with everything said here. They could also improve on a lot of the little details. I often wish they would keep the game "live" while loading the next hole. I hate that the video just pauses so abruptly. Like after a tee shot I should show them continuing to walk off the tee box while gently fading to the next shot view.

Having said that, this is by FAR the best version released to date and I'm really enjoying it!

To me, TW10 is still a superior game. Signature swing animations actually had life and looked as if you were actually using force to strike the golf ball, instead of swinging like a wet limp noodle.

Face mapping tech was far superior and players looked super realistic.

Tourney atmosphere was awesome and the difficulty of play to be was way better tuned.

In fact, thinking of going and picking 10 up again.

Agree with the sentiment this is probably the best yet overall.

Trees are absurd. As the guy said, the lowest leaf on a small low branch does not stop your ball dead In its tracks. So unrealistic.

There are also some holes where either a fairway tree or the tree line pose overly threatening risk. There would be a simple solution for this and is something I'm surprised isn't in yet: ability to tee it up yourself. The ability to tee your ball anywhere between the markers is very important to course management. We should have this ability.

I've been playing Tiger 10 a lot over the last two months and I can completely relate to what you're saying here! The swing animations flow much more naturally and the interface actually puts more of a premium on maintaining a rhythm rather than twitch. I find that if I try to put my Tiger 13/14 tempo on in Tiger 10, I either get a refusal of the golfer to swing, or a fatal swing path error if it actually takes my input. I have to swing in a more flowing rhythm to maintain a true swing path. It feels more like I've struck a golf shot in Tiger 10.

Face mapping tech was far superior and players looked super realistic.
I agree here also. My CAG has much more detail and looks more like me. The player animations are smoother in Tiger 10, IMO. I think it also helps the immersion in that the swing camera is closer to the golfer in Tiger 10, and it helps bring out the detail more, while making me feel more immersed in it.

Tiger 10's meterless precision putting is still the best of the series IMO. It puts the onus upon the gamer to regulate the strength of the putt entirely. None of this infinitely variable putt control range we have now. Not that what we have now in Tiger 14 is bad, and doesn't require touch, it just felt more pure in Tiger 10, where you had to gauge by feel how much of your 80 foot putt stroke strength was needed to produce the 50 feet of putt strength you need for the current putt.

Tourney atmosphere was awesome and the difficulty of play to be was way better tuned. In fact, thinking of going and picking 10 up again.
The tournament atmosphere is better, the presentation camera is much more practical and golfer-centric. The cut views on putting come well after the putt is struck, and they cut to a direct, reverse angle view on the opposite side of the hole so you can see exactly how the putt broke.

If I could put Tiger 14's Connected Tournaments, Simulation and Tournament difficulty, Online Country Clubs, holding of the head high swing camera perspective through the cut view, and chipping and pitching in Tiger 10, I'd be in pure gaming bliss!

I may have to check my archives and see if I still have 10. I know I still have 11.

That's weird because 10 is the game that turned me off of the series and is the last one I bought before this. I tried to play it at some point within the last year and didn't even make it through a round.

I do recall 10 being a BIG step forward for the series, but as I recall it I think I held 11 as the pinnacle prior to this year's.

What I learned about Tiger 10 is that you can make it play like whatever you want it to play. I've got the club tuner set such that I'm averaging around 67. This keeps me in the running for most career mode tournaments in this game's highest difficulty level, which is called Tour Pro. I hit about 75% FIR, and 68 GIR. I would get my clock cleaned trying to play this game online using my club tuning settings, but this game can't be played online anymore so nothing is lost. I could change my sweetspots by 5% and be shooting the 50's almost every round.

What I don't like about Tiger 10 is that it forces me to use a waist high swing camera, which is too low for my tastes. It has a swing camera that's about 4 feet above the golfer's head, but it snaps you back to the waist high level at impact and feels hoaky. That's why I just leave it at the default, waist high level.

The pitching game is passable, but only after the loft is adjusted to make the shots roll out out something equivalent to a pitch. The chipping game just flat feels broken in Tiger 10, which is why I wind up playing a severely modified pitch when a chip is in order.

What sold me the quickest on Tiger 10 was its meterless precision putting. I still marvel at how much I get out of it, but other's mileage seems to vary with this.

My least favorite of the Tiger series was 09. It was way too easy and I finally had all I could stand of Classic Putting.

                            LOL

I remember having those kinds of numbers.

I'm shooting a much more realistic (for my IRL skill levels) 64% FIR and 42% GIR in TW14, all Sim level games. I haven't even tried it easier yet lol.
