Re: TGC Tours (www.tgctours.com)
Play courses with no grids, that's the only true way to play this game until HB figures out an in between no grid and grid set up. I hope TGCT goes this route sooner rather than later.Comment

Re: TGC Tours (www.tgctours.com)
I struggle putting enough with the grid on, how on earth do you people play with no grid? The elevation is impossibly tricky on the screen, what sometimes looks like a downhill putt will actually be uphill. I just can't fathom how this game could be played without the grid, unless you play/study each green in super detail to note the breaks.Comment

And guys on my tour are scoring pretty well. Just depends how much effort you want to put in practicing now. I need to practice a lot more, but for simheads - it's a great experience

I wasn't aware of that. Kind of sucks I guess so I guess I'll have to hope the offline tours that are coming are decent.Comment

Re: TGC Tours (www.tgctours.com)
I haven't picked up TGC yet as without a season/career mode, it didn't interest me but someone said I should check out TGCtours if that's what I'm into, so I did.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational leaderboard is on the main page. The leader/winner is at -71 I assume over 4 rounds (217 strokes). If this occurred in Tiger, there would be an uproar but is this how it is in TGC? Unrealistic scoring to tournaments?
I know there are also people that struggle and I've read this thread with people shooting well, well above par but is just a tad unrealistic isn't it (lol) to have guys at -71 and -66 for a tournament. Kind of dampened my interest in this.
I don't know how much the cheating plays into things but think of it like any other multi-player game. There is always going to be people that just have the stick skills or know the tricks to succeed at a wildly unrealistic rate...maybe a few cheaters, too. Those are the people on the PGA tour there. I don't know how good you'd be at this game but most people end up playing on the Web/Champions tours out of Q School. It makes for a fun environment because people are willing to help out with advice or some good-natured joking while we're all trying to make it to "the bigs." There are still people that shoot REALLY well there but they tend to move up fairly quickly. Plus, with the sponsor's exemptions providing a way to move up in the ranks, you still have something to shoot for even if you know that winning could be tough.PSN: JWGoNDComment

Re: TGC Tours (www.tgctours.com)
I shot an opening round 69 (-1) at Shawnee Creek for the Web-B week 12 tourny. This is by far the best score I've shot on this course, coming directly after a brutal 80 (+10) practice round earlier this morning.
The greens on this course are unforgiving, very fast with massive slope. It forces you to really think out drives that give you a good approach shot, since you can't bail yourself out with 20+ foot birdie putts. The course has narrow fairways, a few with doglegs that turn a misplaced tee shot into a ugly approach shot. I had to fade/slice a sand wedge 10 yards on a 75 yard approach shot to avoid a dubiously placed set of trees. This is a course I would probably never play just for fun, but I think my game can really improve from 4 rounds here.Comment

Seconded. It's not too difficult to putt without grids after you play s few rounds without them . It's also much more rewarding when you make a birdie

Re: TGC Tours (www.tgctours.com)
Considering my game, or lack there of, I feel rewarded when I make a birdie with the green grids on! I aspire to be good enough to eventually play with less aids enabled, but after 100+ rounds since release I'm doubtful I will ever reach that point (currently I'm a +1.9 HC & average score is +2).Comment

Just a reminder that you can still try to qualify for The Open Championship by obtaining a card and registering for one of three qualifying events.
